Well I introduced my British wife to a movie about a British legend full of British actors:

It always makes me happy when I can introduce my wife to a good older movie and she really likes it. That's exactly what happened last night! My 10 year old ass watched this at the movies back in the day. This is probably my 5-6th rewatch. Helen Mirren was a fine piece of ass back in the day, and she's no slouch now. Also related to the above post, Liam Neeson is in this too and imdb trivia said he hooked up with HM and lived with her for 4 years.

8/10

Watched inside man with my wife last night.

She said (correctly) that we'd watched it already but didn't remember the ending. I did as soon as I saw Christopher Plummer. It's your proto-typical Spike Lee movie, racism where it's not needed nor called for. Film school level cinematography, and about 30 minutes too long. My wife went to sleep pretty quickly. Cannot recommend and won't watch again. 4/10.

I actually rewatched it not long ago and it still is a pretty good crime caper movie. Yeah there's some Spike Lee gayness, especially some of the music in the very beginning, but I think it's a pretty good movie.

Tonight we watched a classic , based on a classic book.

The wife had never seen it and really liked it. Not sure she really could follow what was going on but how could you not like this movie with such a stellar cast.

9/10

I recalled while watching it that I bought it on VHS , DVD, and Blu-Ray.

Never seen a Tom Clancy film but I loved the book. I read it a few years ago. Big Tom Clancy fan. I’ve tried to watch the film after I read the book but lost interest after the first ten minutes. If I’ve read a book, I tend to not watch the movie, if I watched the movie, I tend to not have interest in the book, etc. but I know it’s the only tom Clancy adaptation that the author himself said was a faithful adaptation. He didn’t like the Harrison Ford ones. It’s probably his best written book, and the one that was most heavily reined in and edited by an editor. The other ones where he essentially doesn’t have an editor are still fun and exciting to read, but there’s a lot of loose threads and a tumble weed of storylines. THFRO is very tight knit.

It's a great movie and does the book justice. John McTiernan directing, great score by Basil Polidorus, amazing cast. Even if you've read the book, it's worth watching.

Yeah, The Hunt for Red October is still a great fucking film, even if you've read the book. And while I despise Alec Baldwin as a human being, he has had some amazing roles, this being one of them.

And Sean Connery, come on man!

Anyone seen Silent Running 1972?
I am wondering how it holds up and is it worth a watch.

Some of these older space Scifi movies are my favorites: Aliens (1986), Outlander (1981), etc.

I knew Beetlejuice Beetlejuice was a hot mess going in but I didn't expect it to be work to get through. Lydia, her manager/finance and Delia were all terrible and on screen a lot in a script that was a hodgepodge of several underdeveloped ideas. Jenna came across like an actual person making her the best part of the film.

Watched Falling Down (1993).

Holy shit this movie gave me anxiety the entire movie. Reminded me a bit of Hobo With a Shotgun (2011) about someone who lives in a normal society and finally SNAPS.

Watching the Whammyburger scene, I thought I saw a familiar face with the cash register and it turns out it wasn't the April 15th girl from Miss Congeniality, but was Dedee Pfeiffer, younger sister of Michelle Pfeiffer. Small world.

Rachel Ticotin in this film looks nearly identical to my highschool girlfriend. Eerie.

Nice to see some familiar faces from the Politics thread as the pawn shop owner.

His exwife and kids house is RIGHT next to Venice Beach and the Ocean? Man. That is insane real-estate.

I saw some users here criticize the ending, but I thought that was probably the best scene in the movie. "I'm the bad guy?" was delivered so earnestly. Robert Duvail and Michael Douglas crushed it. I was certain Duvail was going to die by the end of the movie on his last day, but glad to see he made it out. Interesting contrast with his daughter compared to Michael Douglas' daughter, how his wife hit the wall but Douglas' exwife is still stunning. The ending reminded me a bit of First Blood, with just someone serving their country is dealt a bad hand and snaps one day.

I’ve been waiting to listen to this one until after I watched the movie:

I don't like how it's revealed he had been fired weeks before and was still going through the routine of getting up and going to work to keep up appearances. At that point its painting him as a typical but job instead of a normal person fed up with bullshit.
