The past couple months we've been catching up on a most of the Marvel movies we never watched. Not even sure how to address these most were so bad and underwhelming.
Started going back through all the Tom Holland Spiderman movies. I remembered liking them more but really the 1st one seemed the best of the 3.
Thor Love and Thunder was god awful terrible.
Doctor Strange 2 was meh on the 3rd viewing
Black Panther 2 we barely lasted 30 minutes. It was just so bad, both of us immediately lost interest and had no investment in anything happening.
Ant-Man and Wasp: Quantumania we finished but didn't love. It really did start to feel like Kang was coming together, especially seeing as the movie was so central to developing him. I think knowing that the entire thing was completely dropped took away from caring about the movie.
Guardians 3 I still really dislike. The whole movie is just mean and angry, none of the original light heartedness or adventure. Everyone constantly yells at each other, everyone is sad.
Marvels we only lasted about 45 minutes with. The girl playing little Marvel was honestly really good and overshadowed Bri and angry black lesbian girl from Vision. We basically couldn't stand those two and lost interest again.
Deadpool and Wolverine we saw in the theater but skipped re-watching b/c of kids.
Captain American: Brave New World was horrible. It felt like a made for Disney straight to streaming movie and felt like Black Panther 3 there was so much rap. 4ft weird looking agent girl was distracting. Omega level Hulk smashing DC but actual Hulk and She-Hulk are just not even referenced "oh maybe we should ask the other two people who may know something about this?" Instead just act like they don't exist at all.
Started Thunderbolts last night but only about 15 minutes into it. Kind of like it so far.
Back-to-back-to-back like this is really a poor way to watch those movies. It becomes so tiresome with every movie being some McGuffin and some conspiracy. Nothing moves forward at all and there are no real compelling stories going on within them to distract from the item chase.

Wondered if this was still around and it was! Metallica when they were still Metallica and Cliff was still alive (he died in a road accident). All bootleg video. It's standard format video (4:3) looks like shit , really like shit on a 4K screen, the audio is shit but this was the first VHS I bought with my money as a kid. 100% memberberries.

Watched Fallen tonight. Forgot how damn good that movie is, wish I could go back and watch it for the first time. Denzel is great as usual with phenomenal performances by John Goodman and Elias Koteas, also James Gandolfini and Donald Sutherland. Highly recommend if you've never seen it, but also good on a rewatch if you haven't seen it in a while.

I remember being 16 and seeing the end of that movie and it scared me good. Just the idea that evil persists in such a way mortified me as a kid.

its interesting as, its not AWFUL as a movie on its own. so far, its FAR better then Black adam, or shazam 2. But holy fuck is it racist. I wonder how much of its failure was racism and how much was just DC fatigue.
Jaime in the comics was pretty well liked. and he was just a normal kid. who happened to have Hispanic heritage...
This fucking movie though. the most Mexican Mexican to ever Mexico. its hateful. Constantly in every shot, every word, every thing they do, Mexican cliche. Call themselves Mexican, despite being Americans.
it also maintains a "brown solidarity". mexican, cuban, brazillian, ecuadorian, etc. anything not White.
Evil White women boss, smokes cuban cigars, and fought Communists in Ecuador. "need I remind you where I found you" for fucks sake the cliche.
Stupid White Ted Kord, needed brown women to tell him to fight to save the world and be a Superhero. His brown daughter keeping up the fight.

"crossing that border." -intentionally conflating legal and illegal. directly implying the family is Illegals.

blonde hair blue eye receptionist is a bitch and mispronounces Jaime on purpose.

brown families are loving, tight knit, multigenerational and caring. white families are broken, hateful and dysfunctional.
nonsensical raid on Jaimes house is done 10000% to look like a ICE raid on purpose.
if I were Mexican american, I am pretty sure I would be offended as hell by this shit.
George lopez is the worst. mostly because 99% of the stereotypes, and racist anti-white, anti-american shit is coming out of his mouth.

tragic backstory for south american omac. lol. ok. and... oh course he ALSO turns on evil white lady. brown solidarity. the entirety of central and south America are one people.
his entire character. "your love for your family makes you weak!" why would this guy say that? why would he give any shits? this isn't darth vader monologuing to his son, or obi wan. if this guy was supposed to be a stone cold professional, then he shouldn't talk at all. or kill then talk. instead he is apparently really emotionally involved in telling Jamie hes weak for loving, and too emotional.. so Jaime can give him a speech about family..
A minor plot and storyline problem is the blending of unrelated tech with no explanations.
O.m.a.c's. had no business being in this story. thats a completely different storyline and completely different tech. omac here is taking the place of Black Beetle in the storyline. so why?
Ted Kords blue beetle tech is ALSO not related to the Scarab tech. which is already confusing enough. if you say Ted was trying to retro-engineer the Scarab, and used it to invent his tech. while that would be plausible, it would undermine Ted's own character. Thus the story needed to spend more time on who Ted Kord was, and his genius tech creation.
as the movie is coming to a close. I have to lower my original take. Its getting worse and worse with generic superhero slop. spykids level shit.
Music is bad and generic.
And the absolute fatal flaw. I realized I don't know Evil white ladies name. or her plans. or anything about her. She is just cliches stacked on cliches. not a character. not interesting. nothing. You can't have a movie with a villain this forgettable.
everyone knows great villains are needed for superhero stories. A great villain justifies a superhero. Who is this lady? what is her evil plan? does she even have one? just seems like a defense contractor or something. the only evil is her interpersonal skills, and being an evil bitch in person. human testing.
