Alan Richson carried the show. Lee Grant's books are (mostly) a ton of fun. Jack Reacher usually gets pretty messed up in most of them. But the Alan/Jack closeness is damn near perfect.

Compare that to the Tom Cruise version.

The Season 2 preview looks like it does better than what season 1 did; which is put a lot of bad-ass Jack into serious nation/world crumbling crap and allow him to kick some serious ass in the process (preferably with a lot of cool firearms). Stretching the series out into 8-12 episodes is where it might fail. Unless they plan to tell multiple Reacher stories, it shouldn't take 8 to 12 hours to tell any of the Lee Child's stories.

Watch the ATM scene in the preview. Who couldn't watch at least 4 hours of shit like that?

would be cool if Tom Cruise brings him into the mission impossible franchise and hands the torch off

but dont join Scientology, Jack Reacher
Ritchson is a Christian so I don’t think he goes to Scientology any time soon

That trailer is a perfect example for when I try to explain to people why this series is so much closer to the real thing than the Tom Cruise movies. I didn't mind the Cruise version, but when you've read the books, it just isn't the same Reacher. Can you picture Tom Cruise walking up to a car and kicking it so hard that the airbags deploy? I can't. But this fucking monster, no problem.

The fight scenes in season 1 is what I would expect when a skilled man-giant is utilizing his skill-set and size to brutally beat down his opponents.

It's almost art-like in the vein of John Wick gun-fu. This time it's man-giant-karate!

i think it's all new cast with the exception of neagley
Yeah all new, but Neagley and she only returns cuz they chose another book she was in. I think she's only in like 3 if I remember right.

Just finished season one and it was mighty fine...

Interesting that I read a review where they called out how the show is distinctly more action/fighting than the books. Which makes sense as books as a medium lean more towards thinking and process, TV leans more to visceral action, and you definitely have a leading man/character to pull off both.

I have not read the books, but might give them a shot now.

I enjoyed the books. I think I read about 16-17 of them.

This is a great show, good mix of mystery, action, and revenge porn. Bonus for not having the usual Hollywood Message. We need more of these to be honest. Glad it's gotten at least another season.

What the fuck... season 1 dropped all at once, but some shitbird studio exec decided it had to be a drip feed this time?

Pretty sure the standard thing now is to make sure you have to subscribe to their streaming service for at least 3 months to watch the whole season. Of course you can just wait until the last episode comes out and binge it in a month if you don't mind seeing it later than everyone else.

Reacher is only 8 episode seasons so it'll end on 01/19. Plus it's Prime, unless you're on a student plan you get that shit by the year.

The reviews are now in for the second season of Amazon Prime Video’s acclaimed “Reacher” which launches on Friday and so far the verdict is stellar.
The series has already seen a jump on Rotten Tomatoes from last season, the title currently sitting at a perfect 100% (8.3/10) compared to the first season’s 92% (7.3/10). The new run is based on the eleventh book “Bad Luck and Trouble” in the Lee Child novel series.
The second season will see Reacher trying to uncover who is killing members of his former U.S. Army unit, the 110th MP Special Investigations. Reacher reunites with three of his former teammates (Maria Sten, Serinda Swan and Shaun Sipos), who begin to connect the dots in a mystery where the stakes get higher at every turn.

Here’s a sampling of quotes from reviews:
“Where the first season was more grounded in some sense of reality, this season feels like a genre playground, where Reacher operates like a flawless, unstoppable deity and the show is allowed to be as gratuitous, goofy, and bloody as it needs to be.” – Kyle Fowle, TV Guide
“A brawnier, funnier, and more potently entertaining season than its inaugural outing. No wonder Season 3 has already been greenlit.” – Amon Warmann, Empire Magazine
“While the investigative work is absorbing and the badinage lively enough, it boils down to the ultraviolence, which is relentlessly inventive and overblown.” – Gabriel Tate, Daily Telegraph
“[Ritchson’s] intimidating presence (and ability to lace it with mordant humor) goes a long way toward establishing this saga as one of the best things to happen to the beat-‘em-up genre in decades.” – Nick Schager, The Daily Beast
“This series is a rollicking success with its gonzo action, tight storytelling, and game cast. On almost all production levels too, from the art direction to editing, the series comes up aces.” – Jeff York, The Establishing Shot
“Reacher isn’t just one of Prime Video’s biggest original shows; it’s also one of its very best. Ritchson is at his very best and he’s surrounded by a stellar cast and crew that go to great lengths to create the action drama TV fans miss so dearly.” – Charlie Ridgely, ComicBook.com
“Lee Child has created a thinking person’s pulpy action hero for the ages, and in Season 2, Alan Ritchson has perfected his interpretation for readers and non-readers alike, yet again delivering one of the best TV shows of the year.” – Aaron Peterson, The Hollywood Outsider
“Unlike its predecessor which took a while to establish its premise, Reacher season 2 makes it clear from the get-go that this new mission is personal.” – Ana Dumaraog, Screen Rant
“Reacher is the series that stands as the “crème de la crème” of Dad TV, and Season 2 only helps cement its status. It’s not even a guilty pleasure; it’s just good television. – Nate Richard, Collider
