They are changing up the yearly Anthology that’s all. Same thing with Mortys Mind Blowers. I wouldn’t look for more meaning than that. Basically they do one of these a season so that creative can use all the crazy ideas they have and couldn’t work into other episodes

which is sad, the series is starting to show wear and tear already, especially since each episode is so jam packed with story modules, meta, introspection and tropes. I hope they don't let this show go on for more than another couple of seasons at most.

I've enjoyed all the episodes so far. Some I've enjoyed immensely. Some less so. None of them were "bad" and I don't know what standard some of these people hold it too, but it hasn't fallen off yet. Rick and Morty's off topic banter, family dynamic (FUCK YOUR BEES, JERRY), and meta scifi trope stuff still on point. Some of the best stuff is just like Rick and Morty's Pornhub conversation. Just the little stuff that no other show would touch.
I also laughed really hard at the swords hurting their wrists thing. I was literally thinking that before they said that.

I literally felt like this show was on fire back at the start of season 4. In fact, the dragon episode is probably in my top 5 Rick and Morty episodes of all-time. The toilet one I also really enjoyed as I'm an absolute sucker for dick and fart humor.
Sure, some episodes are merely "decent", but that's true of every season. Some of those early episodes in season 1 weren't all that great. Like you said, nothing this season has been "bad", just varying levels of decent-great.

I think it says something about the show and writers that different fans rate the same episode so radically different.
I still think it is more entertaining than 95% of the shows out there and will keep watching until it falls off a cliff.

I agree. This was definitely the best episode of season 4 by far. It's one of the best episodes of Rick and Morty in the past two seasons.

Holy fuck, this episode was amazing. The whole "Alive" story, etc. God damn, where has this quality been?? Honestly I haven't cared for a single episode this season, but this was genius!
