and this is the first time I've ever heard anyone try to defend it. But absolutely par for the course on FoH

usually people just laugh, agree with me that theyre pretty faggy words, and move on
I don't think I've ever used it in a sentence but words have specific meanings, philistine.

Cool. Please build a list of arbitrary words you think people shouldn't utilize. I recommend leverage, literally, epic and synergy.

You've got to expand your horizons a bit. Words can be both accurate and faggy.

This morning I'm here to share some actually important science

Most of these arent really widely believed, but the dehydration myth is.

I enjoy that they debunked it with both an experiment and with the obvious statement that should have immediately shut down this objection the first time it was raised

I'm sharing this for the benefit of the poor misguided souls lugging around a freaking gallon bottle of water and chugging it all day. Just have a coffee. (Theres no health benefits to pissing 800 times a day anyway)
Yeah but beer is also 95% water, yet it will dehydrate you.

On a complete different topic, I just learned about the big amount of radioactivity produced by fusion reactors and got a bit depressed

Another myth. No, beer is a net hydrating beverage. You can literally drink beer after a race and get measurably hydrated.

Most of what people say about human nutrition is a myth, but almost all of what people say about hydration is a myth.

I heard a long time ago that beer under 5% would not dehydrate you, but higher than 5% the diuretic action of alcohol effect will make you pee more than you should.

I worked with a renal physiologist and beer aficionado who swore that in fact all beers are net hydrating beverages. I trusted the guys grasp of his field enough not to dispute his claim. Besides, too good to check!

Seriously though it makes sense. You drink a beer, you go take a piss sure but you don't piss out a whole fucking pint. People have these weird freaking ideas about hydration, as if the kidneys can't figure it out and we all need to do math and carry gallon bottles.

I've also done extended studies on the matter, mostly pratical work, but can't remember the conclusion of my research though.

Had this conversation yesterday over a juicy watermelon. Someone was advised by their doctor to stay away from diruetics including watermelon. I'm sure there was more to the story but the idea that I can drink a cup of coffee or beer and piss more than a cup of urine is silly.

Yes, most of the "beer makes you piss" comes from the fact that you aren't drinking a small can. It doesn't matter the liquid, once you're drinking 2-4 pints in short order, you're going to piss a lot.

If you're doing it in moderation its no big deal. Even the occasional 40 hour weekend bender isn't a problem. The problem is when people constantly abuse it or, or don't balance it out with some water. It wont kill you fast, but too much beer/diuretics and you'll be chronically minorly dehydrated and your blood turns acidic, which can wear your organs down over decades.

Watermelon has lots of indigestible carbs in it that will give some people explosive shits if they eat too much.

I thought peanut allergies and gluten intolerances were bad, but if your body can't handle digesting fucking watermelon just log off life, and no saved games (children)

Eh, you have to eat most of a full watermelon in one sitting. Normal portions are fine. Ask me how I know...

what are you talking about? A normal portion is 1 watermelon. 2 if you are black?

I looked it up, It's 92% water, and 7% sugar (sucrose, fructose, glucose). 1% dietary fiber with some weak antioxidants and vitamin content.

if your body can't digest sugar water you need to uninstall life

30-40% of all people have some level of fructose intolerance.

I said what I said.

but seriously. I get lactose intolerance in adulthood. We're not really meant to digest milk after the infancy/breast feeding age, much less the milk of other animals. I understand it.

But not being able to digest fruits and vegetables? How the fuck are you alive? You are an abomination not meant for this earth
