"Play" being the operative word; I was an original backer in what? 2012? Sheesh. I should check and see what ever happened to that. My daughter was less than a year old then; Now she is about to go into the 2nd grade.

People want games like this, now though welcome to never ending dev cycle, they just keep adding more and more and more too the development plan, and keep extending out there resources, but they always ask for more.

CCP (of Eve online) commented today on it. The mods of star citizen on reddit are pissed the Eve players are commenting on the "Vulture" on Star Citizen looks just like the Venture from CCP.

Both companies owe Black and Decker royalties:

Note that this is illegal in the EU. The EU legislation is very clear: any electronic goods must be refunded on demand up to 15 days AFTER the delivery of the FINAL advertised product. If Cloud Imperium wants to have any commercial presence in the EU, they still have to obey EU commerce laws :)

But a lot of people bought the game via Kickstarter, you'd have to argue that spending money on kickstarter is the same as buying a product, and it pretty much isn't, otherwise you could sue everyone who doesn't finish their games. For the people who bought the game after that, it's a bit more complicated but it might depend on what "product" you actually bought when you gave them money. They could argue you simply paid as a donation to help the development of the game and you got rewards, one of which includes the game eventually, but you didn't spend the money directly to buy the game yet. The refund policies only apply when buying something.

They might still refund EU players though, but if you're not in the EU you're probably fucked. Then again if you didn't refund yet, you probably think the game will release and will be great so don't think it affects that many people.

People looking for refunds for their star citizen purchases are dumb.

Not because they are asking for refunds, but because they gave the money in the first place.

There's no release date, they have a timeline that they are more or less adhering to, but it's still implementing shit for the next year or whatever, release isn't even planned yet.

Does anyone mind giving me a rundown on what the game actually is right now?

Last someone mentioned it you could fly around in empty space, drive around on empty planets, and there was really no game to speak of.

Sure, why not. Last time I played you could have a dozen different ships, fly around a packed, amazing looking city, enter in and out of orbit, load your ship out with munitions but didn't have anything to shoot at, docking bay, entering and exiting your vehicle. That was more than 2 years ago. Where's it at now?

Also are you buying a product or supporting/donating to development and getting perks?

You pay VAT, you are buying a product, this fantasy about supporting/donating is BS.

There's no release date, they have a timeline that they are more or less adhering to, but it's still implementing shit for the next year or whatever, release isn't even planned yet.

They have failed every single target date so far with the exception of the "quarterly patches" they promised for 2018... but they cut out 50%+ of what is "planned" for the patches regularly.

Hmm don't know about cutting the content out of the patches but that's what I meant, they're patching the shit they said they would in 2018. If they did cut content from it it's pretty pointless but I was under the impression they were finally patching like they said they would. With that said even at this speed, they're pretty far from being finished with the base game. And obviously the base game is a lot smaller than what they originally claimed it'd be because they figured the scope of things was absolutely retarded before.

From the looks of it though, they kinda started making the real game a few months ago after spending 4years making the tools and doing concept work while spending stupid amounts of money, so they're probably ~2-3years off from a releasable game, assuming they can keep the funds coming to pay their 300devs or whatever they have. Like at this point, the game doesn't look any worse than many early access games on Steam and shit. The fact they're selling inexistant ships constantly for stupid prices is a pretty disgusting strategy however and any early access game doing that shit would be crucified, as it should be. I fully expect the end product to be disapointing compared to the plans and something that could have been done with a 20th of the money, but I do think they might actually release a game at the end, an ok one too relatively speaking. Just not one worth hundreds of millions and 7+years of development.

Star citizen allowed a fat nerd like Christ Roberts to marry a porn star.

I support this kickstarter initiative. I keep reading comments about a game being involved and stuff like low FPS, but these people seem to be missing the point.
