Voyager basically was a treasure trove of technologies and knowledge by the time they got home. The fact she got it back home in one piece is 100% promotion material - in some cases, she let Starfleet get centuries worth of advancements (Borg stuff, future stuff, etc)

I could never get over the fact that Janeway altered the future for her personal feels and was basically rewarded for it, but that was before literally every captain did it as well.

Space. The final frontier. These are the missions of a 20 year fuckup mission to advance and steal new technologies. To screw races and groups never known before. To boldly fuck with time for feels like never before.
Voyager seasons in a nutshell.

Just ran the Voyager stuff for the first time past few weeks. On DS9 now. I saw random episodes of both back in the day but never the full series all episodes.
Think there is some other series I missed too along the line back in my too busy working to watch TV days.

DS9 developed a full cast of characters like Quark, Bashir, Kira, Garak, etc before they serialized to compete with B5. Voyager hired a fraud to develop Chakotay, had Kes and Neelix, and then chucked all Tom and Bellana development away when they got married. No surprise they had to bring in Seven and the writing team focused on her and the Doctor. There once was a guy named Harry Kim but he was a perpetual third wheel in a sea of temporal anomalies.

DS9 recognized every opportunity they had (Nog, Garak, Dumar, Weyoun) and had character development for almost everyone on the show. Voyager never recognized its opportunities and most of the cast had zero or almost zero character development. Even with the show coming to a close they weren't willing to pull the trigger on Seven ditching her remaining implants or have an actual relationship and instead just teased each a few times immediately before the finale.

Best Voyager episode is the one where a copy of The Doctor is activated 700 years later and sees the historical re-enactments of Voyager that paint them all as evil war criminals

100% accurate, no embellishment.

The best episode is when Neelix "died" in a transporter accident with Tuvok.
The worst episode is when Janeway decided to undo the above.

her decision to fuck the timestream literally made seven gay

no really seven was supposed to die w/ a sads chakotay holding her(married) and this is what made admiral janeway go back in time.

now in picard seven cant wait for a raffiki nogger to motorboat her presidential titties

Seven and Chakotay was such a shitty pairing. Zero chemistry

“everyone thinks Chakotay is boring and has the personality of a rock - lets pair him up with Seven!”

Seven and The Doctor would have been better to keep going if they wanted to do a relationship thing. Both their characters had the “how the hell do you humanity?” thing going, which would have been great to mine for good (and funny) character interactions. I think even Jeri Ryan had wanted them to go that route

The Doctor and Seven makes the most sense but even Seven and Janeway makes more sense than Seven and Chakotay. You could have built something up over time as Seven processes the events of Scorpion in new light (holy fuck I'm only a person because that big sexy Indian bet the whole fucking farm I should ride his teepee) but that requires continuity from one episode to another and Voyager hit the reset button almost as often as Three's Company.

Keeping Garrett Wang on the show because he was voted one of People's sexiest men for the year when you were going to kill off Harry and then doing absolutely nothing with Harry is so Voyager it hurts. At least he's got that one A+ episode directed by Levar Burton with all the time travel and pathos.

The Doctor was too old.

Should have had 7 with Harry Kim. You have one person who doesn't know how to human but is in a skintight outfit with giant tits, and a socially awkward incel who is going to tell her that a bunch of depraved shit is normal to make his wildest dreams come true.

He could have been the Delta Quadrant representative for Lt Barclay and Quark's holo porn buisness.

Fucking Barclay got more character development than Kim. Not that Voyager had a ton of character development anyways outside like 2-3 characters anyways, but in a show with so little, it stood out even by those low standards of the show

Has Voyager's actors been in anything else? Deep Space Nine as well? I know Kate Mulgrew was in Orange is the New Black. But everyone else? Disappeared it seems.

Jeri Ryan has been busy doing things for a long time. They all made a permanent living off of Voyager except for Kes, so it isn't like they need to work.

Garrett Wang does the convention thing pretty much exclusively
Tim Russ has made a consistent career of one-off guest spots on TV shows but otherwise hasnt one anything outside of Voyager
Roxann Dawson ended up directing a ton of TV in later years, much like Robert McNeil

ANyways, is this show worth watching from the beginning?

I caught some season 2 episode once with Q and wesley crusher or something and it was terrible

Season 1 and 2 were awful and are huge examples of new trek completely missing the entire point of star trek.

I'm extremely hesitantly debating watching season 3 but I'm tired of feeling like a beaten housewife
