Romulans a bilzzion years ago found this electric handrail and ofc touched it.... It drove most of them insane and they killed themselves...but some managed to have the wherewithal to maintain their sanity and the visions warned that "Synthetic life, if allowed to advance will get to a point where it/they will destroy all organic life in the galaxy."
They give themselves a cool sounding name and work tirelessly to make sure synthetic life only advances so far, and take whatever steps are needed to destroy it / suppress it.
Sounds like the good guys.
The Romulan Sun thing happens... in preparation for helping save a zillion romulans the federation ramps up ye ol mars space-ship-o-matic ship yards to make a ton of PicardSave-O-Rommy5000's and to make them, they get a bunch of rejects androids from the blueman group to help.
Agent Oh-So is like "Hey this is a big oppourtunity to show the federation how dangerious and evil synths are...so..." *beep bop boop beep beep "Ah! now they will kill everyone and scorched earth mars! or is it just...scorched mars? whatever...THEN I will say, BAN ALL SYNTHS FOR SAFETY."
Soong and Maddox go find this random planet and continue to make advanced bio-synthetic robots... but no one mentions Soong...ever...not in TNG, not in the start of Picard, not in Nemisis...nothing...but, whatever.
The robots / Soong? send 2 robots out to make first contact with the federation, for god know why reasons - general oh-so somehow gets informed and orders their death.
Non-Gold versions of the one chick that got blasted in this- are both sent out to...do...something... their "mission" and ONE OF THEM is implanted with "if you get in trouble find Picard" code... she is on earth and apparently is there to seduce ethicly diverse men and get into the Daystron Institute to..do...something.
BUT the Romulans find out that there are 2 synths running around...somehow... and kill her but only after she piques picards interest and that somehow its related to Data.
Okay - so Picard finds the other girl banging her way to the top in this super secret but not secret Romulan Borg Cube...thing... doing...whatever she is to be doing in her "mission"
But he is too late, sexy ears has given her the D so good she spills the beans- and the romulans after a bilimienia of searching "Find the Synth Homeworld" and go off to destroy it.
But Picard is like "I dont get all this talk of the destroyer and stuff, I understand the Romulans have this ancient FEAR of the synthetics WANTING TO DESTROY ALL organic life... BUT THEY MUST BE WRONG BECAUSE I KNEW DATA...and Lore, but fuckt that buyguy...anywho DATA WAS A GOOD...MAN and I LOVED HIM!
Pizza and Pops happen (because you know Riker played his Trombone off screen) and Picard manages to get to "The Synth Homeworld" ... that is just one james jones co-habitation project with...Soong's...son? what...yeah
Okay so there we have golden chick version that was the twin of the chick we killed some years ago during first contact (not the movie...) - she mind melds with the lady doctor because robots can learn things...and she gets to SEE THE REAL TRUTH BEHIND THE MESSAGE- the Romulans OBVIOUSLY did not understand the message - because it was a message meant for SYNTHS not pfft organics...
So.. what was the /REAL/ message! it must not be a message of fear and hate! it must be one...oh...no...it is...yeah...so the synths DO want to just kill all organic life...like...so the romulans are correct...but the added revelation is HOW TO DO SO via summoning some crazy powerful synthetic lifefrom from "some place" that will come and wtfbbq kill everyone...
Jeri Ryan MMA fights the hot romulan and kills her :-( to then...lez out with a not hot black chick.../sigh/.....but I am getting ahead of the story, sorry..
So Picard wants to "EVERYONE JUST STOP AND PLAY NICE" to everyone but can only be in one place at a time.
Soong decides to kill the golden child (or turn off, whatever with his magic stick light pen)...but not the flesh colored one..and lets her finish the "beacon" that......turns...out...not...to be...? a beacon? but a portal device.. okay THAT WOULD HAVE MADE BETTER SENSE IF YOU STARTED WITH THAT...
THEN THE FEDERATION DECIDED TO LISTEN TO PICARD and Riker shows up, looking 890% x 99 more badass than anyone on the show with a FLEET OF FEDERATION WAR SHIPS (because /that/ is a thing now)
They stand off against Agent Oh-So WHILE THE PORTAL IS OPENING SHOWING EVERYONE THAT THE ROMULANS ARE 100% CORRECT... but we trust in picard and he trusts in Daash, or whatever.
So she is like "But u guys were mean to us after we killed thousands of people directly, millions indirectly and scuttled a planet...so..."
Soong still sits there quiet, as do all the other golden people just...ohhhh....
Well she CHOOSES to turn off the PORTAL device.. oh "beacon" sorry...I guess they had to change what it was from something that if activated ONCE should fulfil its duty to something that has to be persisted so it could turn on, and then off and not /cause/ the big bad to do what the big bad wants to do.... because if it was a BEACON once it sounded the GOD SYNTS should only NEED THAT PING to wake up, come back (as they apparently existed 'here' already) and kill some dudes....so yeah its a PORTAL now that..we hope? assume? can only be opened from our side.
ANYWAY the Romulans go "OH OKAY this ONE synth made a forced 'good' choice so ALL IS WELL NOW" and go home
Riker says "Okay Picard, Pizza's in the oven I gatta get back" and blooom starfleet is off!
Picard then DIES
Talks to Data in a dream... I guess Soong plugged him up to the Data atari2600 for a moment before finishing transfering him to the golum gholem gollum.
Picard wakes up and is still old, just the way he would have wanted it...right? no...sorry bro.
He thanks Soong for the sacrafice of giving him the body and how much of a sacrifice it was...because I GUESS WE CAN NEVER MAKE ANOTHER ONE OR ANYTHING

But only the X-B's that were romulan got crazy...none of the others..
