Dave Filoni was just promoted to Executive Creative Director at Lucasfilm. I believe he just has more oversight over all the stuff they're doing now.

What did happen that isn't just a clerical error on a website was president of Disney Distribution was elevated above all studio executives and Disney executive decision-makers-- taking the place of Alan Horn.

Alan Frederick Horn is an American entertainment industry executive. He is currently the chief creative officer of Walt Disney Studios

This role at the company has gone vacant, and Horn is not to be replaced. Head of Distribution was tasked with Horn's current duties.

Likely to use sales/numbers to dictate how creative behaves, merchandise decisions, et al.

Moves have been made by Chapek.

KK is out via override. Distro calls the shots now on creative. This is a 40-50 year upheaval of Disney corporate structure.

A highly unusual move by Disney.

To not replace Horn as he retires has left a lot of Disney employees scratching their heads. It's been dubbed a "Chapek move" by insiders, who derided the decision.

In December, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy announced that Filoni and Favreau are executive producing several “Mandalorian” spinoffs for Disney Plus, including “The Book of Boba Fett,” which is currently shooting and premiering in December, and “Ahsoka,” starring Rosario Dawson, and based on the character Filoni created in “The Clone Wars.” (A third announced spinoff, “Rangers of the New Republic,” is not currently in active development.)

Kennedy still on top rolling down the dung balls. I'll be excited when she is replaced, not before.

Traditionally Horn was more involved with the Marvel properties.

He was kept on as Creative in 2020 in a limited capacity and then in 2021 his role at the company is not to be replaced.

Chapek decided to jury rig Disney and put his personal friend, and head of Distro, in charge of the role of Chief Creative Officer.

When I say head of Distro is now "in charge of COO" I mean Distro was given all roles and tasks of Alan Horn's position. Which is what makes this re-organization unusual.
