how were they able to lead a chase til they ran out of fuel then have enough fuel for Adm Gender Studies to hyperspace through the First Order?

How was the plan to strand themselves on the planet they were "running" to (because I guess they thought all the shuttles people would take down there had stealth tech and wouldn't be seen?) a better idea than moving a bunch of the little shuttle/transports between ships to confuse First Order of which ship the leaders were on, and not just have all 3 go to hyperspace in 3 different directions to confuse them?

How were Finn and Rose able to just leave the chase in a ship to go looking for the codebreaker on the casino planet and return to the chase no problem, but for everyone else they were stuck on the ships throughout the entire chase plot?

he "twist" is revealed pretty early into the movie and it's not like we didn't see it coming anyway
uhh the fact Palpatine turns out to be reys grandfather? It's supposed to be a huge shocker just like finding out vader is Luke's father.

JJ Abrams is the biggest hack piece of shit this world has ever seen. Looking at this it looks like he simply remade RoTJ and took the plot twist from ETS.
You are directing your hate at the wrong guy. TFA was fine, it wasn't ground breaking l, but it didn't rock the boat and ruin childhoods. Rian & Kathleen are the real pieces of shit that you should be mad at. To put it in a way that will hit closer to home for you, they are the ones that gave this franchise multiple tattoos.

Everything I have seen and read leads me to the same conclusions as this guy...
JJ did the best he could with what they gave him. It was a tall order nothing short of a miracle to save this latest trilogy after what Rian did in TLJ.

uhh the fact Palpatine turns out to be reys grandfather? It's supposed to be a huge shocker just like finding it vader see Luke's father.

Was it? Honestly all the clues were there.

Her hidden parentage could only mean she was the child of someone we know. We know for sure she wasn't a Skywalker as soon as Luke doesn't recognize her in TLJ. That doesn't leave much room for anyone else, being a Kenobi would have been irrelevant in the story, and there were many clues as to her identity as a Palpatine (Rey's musical theme is very similar to Palpatine's, her fighting style is the same.. there's videos about it on Youtube to almost right after TFA came out that show all these hints).

And again, the shocker wasn't handled like in TESB where it's the climax of the movie. Here it's dropped early on, and the movie is more about how she reacts to that information (or rather, confirmation) and how to solve the problem of the emperor's return.

What I wanted to know how well the space horses galloping down the star destroyer thing worked out.

I wrote about it earlier. The space horses are a thing for 5 seconds.. they charge out of a transport, then suddenly they stop, get off the horses and duck behind cover to shoot at some sith troopers like it's Gears of Star Wars. The horses served no purpose. There is one throwaway line from an imperial technician saying he can't jam the resistance's speeders because they're not using speeders, but the horses took them nowhere of significance and as I said it lasts mere seconds so it was probably only in the movie to continue the Disney tradition of animals loving the good guys.

While I wouldn't dare claim to be a writer or have any experience that allows me to critique their script but as a fan, I do not understand why this trilogy experienced any difficulty. In my opinion, JJ, who had only contractually agreed to one movie if I remember, did a fairly decent job leaving a lot of open-ended storylines that could have been incredibly interesting. Who is Rey? Finn? Spoke? How did the Sith power rise out of the ashes of Palpatine's death and Vader's redemption? How will Luke, Leia, and Han respond? They had new characters to explore and old characters to carry their storyline into the future. Was JJ's story safe? Sure Rehashed? Sure.... but there was so much for Rian Johnson and now JJ again to go in some really interesting directions. They have the expanded universe and countless fan-driven stories to pull from but instead, they act as if they had to handcraft every microscopic piece of these movies but that's simply ridiculous and required no level of cleverness or cinematic genius to construct.

I simply don't get it.... and while I get the honorable sentiment of Rey choosing to be "a Skywalker", that simply just dumps on the story of 4, 5, & 6. Vader's redemption and Luke's part in that storyline has completely been nullified and now somewhat hollow. Regardless, I'm going on Saturday to witness this myself but after reading the spoilers my opinion of this trilogy has now reached an even deeper level of disappointment. It's a continued realization of missed opportunities for absolutely no reason at all.

Regarding the title and the ending...
In the end, Rey Palpatine decides that she prefers to be known as Rey Skywalker from then on because she owes more to the teachings of Luke and Leia and nothing to Palpatine, her blood doesn't define who she is, her heart and soul do.
Wtf? What teachings? LOL

Like TLJ or not, Rey received some teaching from Luke on the island, though it was mostly in disagreement. She also receives advice from Ghost Luke in this movie, and the timeskip between TLJ and TROS had Rey follow Leia's tutoring, since it is revealed Leia also trained to be a Jedi (and had her own saber). So there you go.

Anyway, I'm done here.

I've posted my thoughts and answered a few questions as well as I could. Those that care to actually read into them I hope it alleviates some of their worries if they still hope this can be a pleasant viewing experience. Those that gave up on the sequels I can't blame them but if they wanted some story details they got them and can get some closure maybe..

The incorrigible haters just want to laugh and shit over everything, I'll leave them to it.

You too can defy nature! You were born white male but don't have to be a part of the white male patriarchy.

You can be an ally!

Man I want the early 90s back

Why the fuck did they name Kylo, "Ben"? Leia and Han barely knew Obi-Wan, that little thing right there is where it began to unravel for me. I still don't get that, naming him Lando would have made more sense given he actually had interactions Leia and Han beyond "Sup, your ship sucks, the force is real, and I'll do the thing to the thing. **dies**"

JJ was involved with 2 of my fave shows, lost and Fringe. Sure, lost took a turn towards the end, but overall still a good show.

This Disney SW shit was all written and designed by committee. He might of been there but cant take all the blame.

there is a point in every artists life where they simply run out of good ideas. then have to rely on just ok ideas, then slightly crappy ideas and finally either full on shit the bed notions or rehashing your old good ideas and passing them of as new.

Lost? LOST????? REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Lost has been consistently ranked by critics as one of the greatest television series of all time.[2][3][4] The first season had an estimated average of 16 million viewers per episode on ABC.[5] During its sixth and final season, the show averaged over 11 million U.S. viewers per episode. Lost was the recipient of hundreds of industry award nominations throughout its run and won numerous of these awards, including the Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series in 2005,[6] Best American Import at the British Academy Television Awards in 2005, the Golden Globe Award for Best Drama in 2006, and a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Ensemble in a Drama Series. Users of IMDbPro gave Lost the highest average ranking for any television series during the first ten years (2002–2012) of the website's operation.[7]
