I haven't watched it yet, but that new Superman series seems to lean into a variant where she shows up militant, and then becomes essentially kryptonian Starfire.

yeah, its hard to nail perfectly. Alien but friendly open and likable.

Her backstory is also just constantly retconned. although its stablized.
Powergirl is Kara zor-L from Earth 2. The golden age. Justice Society, Jay Garrick flash, Carter hall Hawkman, alan Scott Green lantern.
Golden age comics are retconned to have been Earth 2. so, Action comics #1. thats earth 2, Kal-L.
Crisis on infinite earths rebooted Earth 2, and decided Powergirl was actually Atlantean not Kryptonian. but that was stupid and everyone hated it. so was retconned back..
Earth 2 is destroyed in Infinite crisis, and Powergirl is the "sole survivor". brought over to Earth 1.
Powergirl is older. mid twenties. Consistently a Team leader. more confident and mature.
JSA, Birds of prey, and Justice league:international. She has way more comics then supergirl at this point.
a bunch of iconic storylines. infinite crisis. Justice league international all of it. checkmate/max lord. Friendship with Ted Kord/Booster.
The Conner/palmatti legendary run of Powergirl. with Atlee/Terra.

yeah. and to be clear, part of what I was trying to articulate was, since Kara spent the major formulative decades of comics 85-2005 DEAD. There ISN"T a "standard classic Supergirl" in the first place.
and yes, as noted in my last post, Powergirl does have more iconic stories, and amore defined character at this point. Since she WAS alive during this period.
The EFAP guys keep insisting making movies about "d list heroes" is a bad idea. people will only go to see superman/batman. Which I think is stupid. Marvel built their MCU on d-listers. They SOLD their A-list to fox and sony. spiderman, xmen, wolverine. even Hulk. Guardians of the Galaxy was z list. 1 good comic, and otherwise completely unknown. niche even to comic readers. Iron man was c-list. Thor was d-list. and so on.
so yeah, I think a powergirl, Boostergold movie should work if its good. ... if its good. Black adam, blue beetle, Shazam....
PG is also older, so you can get an older actress. for Supergirl I would want someone 17-20 tops.
PG does also come more baked into an established Superhero universe. Her character doesn't work as well without other superheroes existing. You can tell a SG story where she and superman are the only ones.

I feel like, of everyone here, you should be aware that their last name isn't the letter L.
I know you have a frenzied, spastic, leave out extra words and punctuation and capitalization writing style, but it is literally just saving one letter the way you are doing it. And that's not counting you putting the dash in instead, which definitely takes longer to type.
On topic, the animated DCU version of Supergirl is far and away my favorite. I am pretty sure I even posted her fight with Darkseid somewhere in this thread, or elsewhere at least. The earnest girl that is also a bit bewildered and enchanted by everything is what they should have gone for. Not some alcoholic mess. Even the animated movies where she joins the team in the future is vastly better than this, because she's trying to make friends and learn to trust people but also become a hero like her cousin. Not see how much it takes for her to get drunk.

Personally, I think super hero movies are done, other than Spider-Man. The problem is, Gen-Z doesn't give a shit, and Hollywood has managed to piss off the demographic that does give a shit. I think that's one of the reasons MotU did so poorly despite being pretty okay.

The problem with these movies is that there are no stakes, no sacrifices. Infinity War and Endgame worked because characters made real sacrifices, including themselves. This Doomsday movie is reintroducing the same characters, but under different names, along with the tired shit of time travel and multiverse baloney.
Running around and shooting space lasers from wrists and wrecking real estate is just a tired show because it has no impact. And then we get the bonus of stupid one-liners and quips all the fucking time. There's only so many times you can retread a tire before it blows out and makes the semi drive off a cliff.
MOTU bombed because it was a dead IP of an IP that wasn't popular when it was new. It didn't have a demographic to appeal to at all.
Spider Man only works because of the sacrifice he made for his friends. The universe is a mighty lonely place when you have no friends and no loved ones....and he did that to himself to save them. Even if he does become friends with them and MJ loves him again, the sacrifice still exists. Doomsday will be just more time jumping and multiversing and stupid quips and wrecked real estate. It will only do well because of RDJ and Membaberries.
Supergirl sucked because not only was she not heroic, but there was no hero's journey at all, on any level. Layer in the fact that she's startlingly FUG and uncharismatic, and the recipe for complete failure was baked into the pie before it was put into the oven. She straight up murdered the villain after telling the other character that murder was bad, yannow. This is a HERO? Look at Batman. All he had going for him was willpower and a sense of justice at all costs. He kept delivering villains to justice instead of taking the easy route and throwing them off a building. Would Batman as an IP have survived for so long if he dispensed with his ideals as easily as this Supergirl flushed that toilet right away?
Superman as a comic only survived because of his morals and ideals. Superman 2025 was a whining twat with nothing AND Gunn murdered the backstory by saying he was sent to Earth to conquer it. Affleck's Batman dispensed with the original Batman's moralities, ideals, and sacrifices, and that's why he's so hollow. Cavill's Superman was compelling on the surface, but they ruined it by killing him and resurrecting him. They removed the Journey part of the Hero's Journey. Superman doesn't kill people, and Batman doesn't use guns. Kind of part of who they were, thrown away by modern bad writing.
Bale's Batman movies weren't without their warts, but in the end there was no Batman and no Bruce Wayne. Sure, Bruce survived, but it cost him everything except Catgirl or whatever she was called. Alfred also survived, but the tacit implication at the end is that there was an end to their relationship.
One of my favorite heroes is Rorschach from the movie Watchmen. A normal person doing heroic things, and he did it to the ultimate sacrifice without sacrificing his humanity in the process. Supergirl, Superman, all these other MCU/DCU twats are super beings doing rather mundane things.
