It's had a high quality 1080 screener since week 1.
Screener has a particular meaning and doesn't just mean some good quality bootleg. Screener releases make a lot of waves these days, since so few of them are leaked anymore.

I never saw a screener listed for Superman, only HDCams. Some were listing that they had TS audio, but I didn't care enough to watch any samples, when I could just wait a month or three for a real HD 1080 streaming release, not a cam.

WIKI even has a page on it:

Yes screener is a high quality pre release DVD rip but if it wasn't a screener I don't know what you call it. It definitely was not a cam.

L337X is showing 1 TS, which was the earliest release and 2 HDCams that came after it (until streaming rip today).

So probably a true TS, where someone in China/India/South America was able to plug directly into the movie player and make a copy. I hardly follow or care about movies anymore, but it seems like full TS releases are also kinda rare these days, but doesn't make the news like a screener leak of a major Hollywood movie would.

Hell, a handful of indie movie screeners just got leaked and that made the news this week on TorrentFreak.

I think they added a whole bunch of extra security to screeners after they kept having leak after leak, 10 - 15 years ago. I wouldn't be surprised if they have a bunch of that same security on every movie sent out now (multitude of digital watermarks), so they know exactly where that TS was recorded from.

Likewise only seen one screener in the last 5+ years. It was like a "Woah this is a real screener" moment.

They are so rare that whoever rips the screener usually watermarks the fuck out of it, to advertise something or let everyone know which group ripped it.

A clean straight ripped screener with 0 watermarking is something we haven't seen in 10-15 years.

"Screener" must mean something different nowadays. Back in the on the high seas, a screener is some dude in a theater with his camera recording it. I remember downloading many a screeners back in the day and usually had audience getting up and walking to and from seats or heads at the bottom of the screen. Didn't take long for me to stop acquiring screeners.

That's a CAM and always been a cam. Screeners were physical media (DVDs primarily) that were sent out by studios to specific people like award voters.

You only downloaded shit from public trackers like Piratebay during that time? Cams that were labeled as screeners were mislabeled trash that would get nuked on private sites. All those terms have been around forever.

Screeners are an official term for movies sent to the academy award voters (and special other people) every year. Be it however they were formatted through the years, as I am pretty sure there were VHS screeners before DVDs.

With digital projectors and all that new fangled shit you can get, idk, non-screeners? They are perfect video copy but have shitty audio.

nowadays movies come on micro SD cards and plug into the projector, and you can just burn a copy of it straight from the projector or you have a tripod setup right next to the projector that records the video.

But projectors are loud as fuck so you have to pull the audio from the theater itself so it sounds tinny and shit
