So I don't spoil myself but the impression I had was that this is real close to Reeves Superman. Is that kinda what happened?
It is Reeves/Smallville. In the Charlie video he says that if you hated Smallville you may not appreciate this take. It is also very family friendly apparently.

Is this satire? I can't tell anymore, need you to spell it out clearly if this is a genuine opinion!

Nope, not satire. It was a good movie, and Mr. Terrific stole every scene he was in. Probably had the lowest expectations for him, and he ended up being one of my favorite characters. Guy Gardner was really good, Hawkgirl was fine and Superman was perfect, in that they were able to humanize him and show both the highs and lows of his power instead of him just being a god all the time. Expected Luther to be one of the weakest points of the film, but he wasn't really. He did come across as a live action Gru from Despicable Me here and there, but he also had some really good scenes.

Hoult based his Luthor on Rosenbaum from Smallville.

An excellent choice. Smallville had some great actors over the course of its run. Rosenbaum's Lex Luthor was one of the best versions ever. I would put it up there with Gene Hackman.

Not really aside from The Engineer being one of Luthor's henchmen. Gunn wants to do The Authority but it's not a short term priority last I read. I've only read the first handful of issues though so I could have missed some references

People are actually liking this?

I was going to see it till Gunn opened his fucking cockholster. I haven't seen a 96% on a DC movie in some time... Hell, any superhero movie for that matter. I don't think even Deadpool and wolverine got that. I could be wrong though.

Then don't go watch it

I didn't think it was out for general audiences yet, the (legitimate) user reviews should just be people who paid for the preview showings, so that would be pretty self-selecting to Superman fans to start with.

I agree on FOH reviews.

Generally, I will throw out the normal complaints and tend to find a nice middle ground that helps me decide to go or wait.
