I don't really care for a critical drinker, but it's not like he's wrong on a bunch of the message stuff, but Harper is much more professional about his reviews. That's why I said I like his retrospectives older films talking about the production, who was involved, the score, etc. He's got a very particular format and it's typically unbiased and doesn't have any political BS in it, just talking about movies. Plus he's actually done some documentaries on stuff out of the '80s. Think he even did a street fighter two documentary, and you ain't an American if you didn't grow up playing that God damn arcade game as a kid.

I honestly trust his YouTube reviews more than any of the other fags like the nerdrotic guy, or anybody else that has dolls in their filming room.

Plus I'm pretty sure I could drink the critical drinker guy under the table, that's just his macho schtick. If you actually look at his avatar his bottle of Jack Daniels still has the top on. Probably get sloshed on just a few pints down in his local pub.
Why did it take till paragraph 2 to bring up the popkos!?!

Drinker just comes off as lazy. Its not hard to put more effort in then reading off a script white a part of the trailer for the film plays on loop for 10 minutes.

Really the best channel is still these hack frauds.

Weather its some garbage Mike found on Tubi, or a weird Italian Sex Pervert Film that Jay totally didn't get off to or a soulless cash grab that they can make Rich embarrass himself with, their ppinions are always more or less solid

Yeah I don't mind his videos sometimes but I have to fast forward through them because he plays the same stupid clips every single video. I'm surprised he hasn't been arrested by his government for salacious memes.

RLM is still the most entertaining and at least we know for a fact they can knock em it back with the best. I also appreciate the fact that they will touch on just random Goofy Independent films, and I've actually watched quite a handful on their recommendations that I've enjoyed, versus just your regular Hollywood slop that all the Funko people cover.

Rlm is solid. The rest are all doll collecting homos.
Amen, at least they collect old movie memorabilia like gremlin arms and portions of the starship Enterprise, which I honestly kind of enjoy their videos where basically making their little museum pieces. I mean hell, if I had their money that they are probably making, and reviewing movies and stuff was my job, I'm probably by a bunch of old props and set them up in my warehouse. Probably try to get an old pulse rifle or a predator mask as a gem of my collection. At least it's not a goddamn doll.

IDK if you watched it but they bought a prop Sylvester Stallone that is life sized and was "frozen" in the cyro prison.

Just got back a bit ago. Quick summary of my thoughts with no spoilers...

Positives:

* The movie stayed true to Superman's character. He doesn't kill or swear; he is the ultimate do-gooder who tries to save everyone and everything.

* The actors chosen for their roles fit well. Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane fit quite well and at times echoed Margot Kidder. Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor was fine, although I think they should have chosen a slightly older actor.

* No obvious DEI / woke elements. A black Perry White is the only thing that stood out. But I like that actor, so whatever.

Negatives:

* The movie felt like it was the third in a series. You're dropped into an established world with characters you're assumed to already know. I understand avoiding another origin story, but this approach went too far in the other direction.

* The ridiculous change to Superman's Kryptonian parents was completely unnecessary.

* Too many characters in the film had nothing to do and were pointless extras.

* Will probably never re-watch this. For me, there were no truly epic moments that made me think, wow, I'd like to see that again.

7/10.

EDIT: keep tacking on things that come to mind.

Meh, before the culture wars really ramped up, movie reviews were not nearly as political as they are now. Especially amongst the YouTube crowd.
All critics have an agenda at this point. They're either trying to cozy up the industry with curated reviews or making content for their Youtube channel. It's all just a bunch of noise at this point with a few standouts that I trust because of their track record.

FOH reviews are the most accurate for me. I have a good sense of who here has similar tastes as me so it's pretty easy to suss out what is worth watching.

The critics can give something a 98% fresh, but if FOH calls it "gay and retarded" then I have a pretty good idea it's probably not worth my time.

Even here I disregard like 90% of the posters reviews lol.

Daughter reminded me that Jimmy Olsen was back has a red head guy. Lately he was one of the character that was changed race/gender. I think it's in the latest Superman cartoon.

We saw it yesterday. The cast was really good. Story is a mess. Corenswet has a pretty good range. I really liked how he switch between Clark and Superman even in the scene that this wasn't the main focus.

I'm a DC fan. They have somes amazing story that I would dream to see on the big screen. It's just that they never were able to develop their world to the point of being able to make thems. I'm still baffled that they messed up Flashpoint. It was simple... take the movie in 2d and turn it into a movie.

I would like to see something like under the red hood. Cast Jensen Ackles has the Red Hood since he was the person that voiced him in the movie or someone else if he is Batman.

yeah saw this today and 7/10 sounds about right. I've never been a superman fan and this movie did nothing to change that, he's still a boring character. Gunn throws everything into this movie, so many characters that everything gets diluted. The dog might be in the movie more than any other character, and I like dogs but it feels a bit too much here.

There is a bit of "brave, brown, oppressed unarmed people fighting eastern slavic white comically evil guys" but its over the top in just one or two scenes, otherwise this is boring superman vs boring lex luthor and neither character feels that well developed. At least we skip all the origin story stuff, its kinda funny the first 30 seconds of the movie yadda yaddas past all metahumans, superman origin, Krypton, etc. I don't mind but as someone said above, it does sorta feel like we skipped the first movie.

I wouldn't really recommend a trip out to theaters unless you are a HUGE superman fan. Visually its a mish mash of comic book movies we've already seen dozens of times. None of the side characters were that interesting. There is one fun cameo near the end that explains a bit but its literally a 1 minute scene setup for another movie. Its (spoilers duh) the alcohol fetal syndrome chick from House of the Dragon s1 is intro'd as Supermans cousin, Supergirl, and Krypto is her dog and she loves to party. She was funny and honestly maybe the best character in the movie lol

i kinda wish i had watched Suicide Squad and/or Peacemaker instead, i found those things more interesting than this. I wasn't bored but I wasn't really into any of the characters or story. Gunn seems to have a huge crush on Jimmy Olson and that was weird.

Isn't that a plot hole concerning Kal-El's parents? Kara would have known their motives and who they were.

Was was the CGI for Guy Garder's ring power? Was it just a boring green "laser" or did they get creative with the GL ring?

He’s Irish, not British. Iirc, Irish still have some basic freedoms.
