I thought it was well made, but I'm not sure how much audience (or even myself) will stick around once they start directly killing Americans. The pilot attempts to split the difference by only having Soviets be killed, and all the secrets learned be of Soviet ops, but they can't keep that up indefinitely.

As to the "Our new neighbor is our worst enemy!", yeah, it's ridiculous, but his deep cover background could get interesting. His "It was a bit more than that" makes me wonder if he's beaten (or even killed) minorities, if he even had an issue with that, and how the Soviet characters respond (the Soviets made a lot of hay, especially in the 60s, of the (nominal, anyway) racial equality under Socialism.)

a few things that bugged me... flashback 20 years, and chick is the same age. She has a Russian accent in Russia which is magically gone in the US (My wife is Russian she could not stand the whole accent thing either). The show seems to be lacking in a good amount of a story, so far it seems like they are bounty hunters who hunt down defectors, while holding down a family that will most likely be used against them later. Show seems very predictable and unrealistic to me.
She has a family and is willing to let her kids die for the motherland because America is evil.. wtf she has been here long enough to have 2 teenagers and is still all for the motherland. At least the guy makes sense when he is trying to defect and his reasons, Felicity is just as bad as she was in Felicity... this show will be cancelled after 1 season.

Haven't you noticed that just about every single tv show has a british actor playing an american? I don't think it is too far fetched to think the KGB could teach an american accent to a spy.

Exactly, listen to Hugh Laurie talk in real life, he's cockney as all fuck. Then watch House, you'd never know.

Lingual coaches are now magic.

He actually flips in and out of his accent sometimes....But he's said after a while, it's actually hard to go back to your native accent.

It's fucking crazy how fast you can pick up an accent, though. As a kid I spent a month in Iowa (I'm from Vegas) and when I got home my friends did a WTF the moment I started talking.

Ya, Russian spies losing their Russian accent is 100% believable when you consider that's what most of the Russian spies actually did that were embedded deep in America.

Hugh Laurie was born in Oxford, and attended Eton and Cambridge, where he was an oarsman and a member of Cambridge Footlights. He is nearly as far from being Cockney as an Englishman can be.

I'm always surprised at how fast I slip back into an accent when I visit family in Chicago.

my accent goes reverse, I speak normal english most of every day, if I travel my 'ho bruddah' pidgin english hawai'ian gutter mouth dials up to 11, no fucking clue why. I'd be shot as spy first time I opened my mouth.

Episode 2 is off to a strong start, not wasting any time getting to sex scenes.

Just watched first ep over the weekend. Keri Russel went from a pretty girl in Felicity to OMG priapism every time she's on screen. Digging the early 80s part of it too.

Really enjoying this show so far. Anyone else still watching?
Yeah, this is fast becoming one of my favorite shows and I really can't even put my finger on why exactly but the action/story moves well from episode to episode without getting bogged down in filler so far. Doesn't hurt that Keri Russel has aged very very well though I'm sure. The fact that everything Russia does seems to revolve around two main spies is a little.... but no real way to get around it.

I haven't watched this yet but was thinking about investing in it. It gives a really Homeland vibe although surely won't be as critically acclaimed. Just wondering if that's what to expect from this series as I fucking HATED Homeland. Not sure what about it was exactly but I'm assuming this is more of the same dialogue heavy, cat and mouse, political drama?

Edit: Not that I'm against that style of show. I loved Rubicon which I'd say is a similar style even though that show was horrendously slow and never really went anywhere.
