I hated that Microsoft dropped the family share folder. Was really looking forward to having that option since I have a brother that lives an hour from me. If it worked like Microsoft advertised then, to my brother and I at least, it would have been the best thing to happen for console gaming. The needing to connect every 24 hours is what allowed that share folder to exist. Without it then anyone can just log into your account, download all your games, and never reconnect allowing you to keep all those games for as long as you wanted. You have to remember that the Xbox One discs were nothing more than an install disc, just like a PC game. With this recent change, unless you purchased the digital copy, those disc will have to be kept in the machine for the game to work which actually limits sharing more than the share folder seeing how only one console can have the disc in at anytime. Microsoft stated that a game in the share folder can be played by two consoles at the same time... the owner and one family member. That is as long as it worked like Microsoft claimed it would.
I really hope there is an opt in for the DRM so we can gain access to the shard folder option. If the share folder is completely gone then I might as well continue to do most of my gaming on the PC. Looks like I had the true next gen the entire time.
