I don't even know what the argument is about anymore.

Before it was, "my leaked documents are more accurate than your leaked documents retard!!" which just made my brain hurt...

I don't know anyone in this day and age who plays video games as one of their primary hobbies who doesn't game on both PC and console. There are certain major genres of games that you just simply cannot get on one or the other. You cant get most of the major sports games on a computer, and you cant get RTS/strategy/ARPG games on a console(yet).

Anyone who loves videos games, and limits themselves to just one or the other is really missing out.

Maybe my experience is out of the ordinary, being that a good amount of my friends come from my years of working at Software Etc/Babbages/Gamestop, so we're all pretty hardcore gamers, but I wouldn't imagine we are *that* far out of the norm. We all get excited for new console releases just like we get excited for a new generation of video cards.

I will say though, this is all from a sampling of adult gamers. I have no idea what your average 15 year old kid is doing nowadays. We're all in our 30s and 40s with enough disposable income to have computers and multiple consoles.

Maybe you haven't been paying attention, but it's been stated as fact multiple times that you and your friends do NOT do this.

Please, try to keep up.
It's like I don't even know who I am any more.

You are lying, no way you play PC games and consoles. No fucking way.

I love how you guys can totally twist comments out of context, it's amazing!

It's also amazing that you can keep going on about some totally fabricated shit.

The only people I know who play games exclusively (or do the majority of their gaming) on PC are my dad, my brothers, and arguably you guys. They all also own an Xbox and do some gaming on there depending on what it is.

Everyone else I know, from cousins who are teenagers to friends in their late 20s and early 30s, play on consoles exclusively.

Hopefully I contributed to this clusterfuck

I'd probably guess that the younger your are, the more likely you are to game exclusively on a console. Nowadays, and really for the past 10 years or so, the game selection on a console vs a PC has been 75% the same at least. When that is a case, most people are going to go with the cheaper of the two options(console).

Anyone who was playing a lot of video games in the 80s and early 90s probably skews more towards PC gaming, or owning both a PC and console, as back then the game selection was very different. You pretty much never saw a Sega Genesis or NES game on a PC, and vice versa. I think older gamers are more used to the mindset of needing both a PC and console to really have the option of experiencing everything that gaming has to offer.

The younger generations are probably more likely to be using a tablet than a console at this point, or will be anyways.

My 10 and 7 year old play both but given the choice between the two they will play my PS3 of their 3DS's before they pick up my iPad.

Yep, I have 9 and 5 year old nephews. When they come over, their #1 choice is my XBOX, 2nd is my computer, and if for some reason one of those things is busy/not usable, the leftover kid will grab my tablet and play Angry Birds or whatever. The 5 year old probably does the best with the tablet, the 360 and the PC are a little to complex for him, but he can definitely play some Angry Birds or Fruit Ninja just fine. Tablets are great for little kids that don't quite have the motor skills for a full-blown controller or mouse/keyboard combo yet. They game on a Wii/Tablet/3DS at home.

I missed a lot of the discussion, but I'll say this... If I have the option of picking up a game on my PC and continuing it on my phone or 720, I'll be all-in on the Microsoft store. I see no reason to choose Steam over that.

I'm all for options and convenience. We already have Windows 8, both on our PCs and a tablet. PC sales down or not the OS and other compatible devices will grow by the millions if not tens of millions every year over the life of the console. As I posted before already more than 10% of Steam users are on 8. All that remains to be seen is the cost of that convenience and the rest of the picture so we can make a decision on which console to pick up. Could still see us getting an Xbox Mini if it has the HDMI passthrough features rumored (if that's the case, one on each TV replacing our Rokus/360 at some point) and a PS4, just waiting on information.

Meh, I love my tablet for couch browsing, reading books, reddit, netflix/crunchyroll and games like Puzzles and Dragons, but it will never be a serious gaming device without tactile controls.

I don't see it advancing any more towards a gaming device, especially with all those Mobile/microtransaction gaming studios dying by the dozen every month, less than 2 years after they started.

Since I imagine the X720 will be closer to a PC than ever before and every game I'd want will be available on my PC as well - Personally, I'll be using my PC for cross-platform, MMOs, and Dota2; PS4 for JRPGs/Sony exclusives; and Wii U for Nintendo first party games; and a 3DS.

Sounds like MS want's to make the 720 be a replacement for a desktop PC.

Yea, this was what the Vita/PS3 did to an extent and something I'd love as well, but I don't think that's what that rumor means if it's true.

I wouldn't be surprised if they do it, though. They have already proven that it's possible with the Skulls of the Shogun game. You can pick up playing on your PC, Xbox or Windows Phone any time.
