Forza Motorsport 5's 'Car Pass' is $50 | Joystiq

Microsoft detailed its DLC plans for the Xbox One launch title Forza Motorsport 5, revealing that it will offer a $49.99 "Car Pass" that collects the game's first six batches of add-on content.

Developer Turn 10 will release a selection of new cars for Forza Motorsport 5 monthly, and players will be able to purchase vehicles either a la carte or via discounted "Car Pack" bundles.
They're releasing new cars via Season Pass style stuff. That's DLC only shit. Also note that Forza 4 had over 400 cars and Forza 5 has only 200 some cars. Why? So they can milk you like this nonsense.

GT6 has 1197, for comparison. They also have bullshit DLC, but at least there's more 124 new cars over the last game and not half as many.

But thats the thing Soy, once this shit infects all our games they have the power to fuck you into spending cash. Make shit so hard or tedious to get that you break down and spend the $1. Whats a dollar anyways? And they can tailor this to suit them and their pocketbooks. So instead of focusing their time on making great games, they focus on how can we get Jhonny to spend his dollars?

Not my fault some people can't handle reality.

Anyone who buys anything Microsoft are the pathetic ones at this point. It's hilarious that DMK thinks that the Xbone being less powerful than the PS4 is an "opinion." It just proves how sad and unintelligent some people here are. I'm just backing the clear winner and refusing to acceptanti-intellectual bullshitlike that.

I appreciate the sentiment of what you're saying, but there are still tons of great games being developed. Microtransactions are here to stay, so if you're going to go that route, I much prefer it like Gran Turismo or Assassin's Creed. Unfortunately, there are plenty of people who are spending money on these transactions, so I can't really blame the companies for capitalizing on it. You'd almost be stupid not to.

Yeah, they're sadly not going away. I just hope most developers go the route of those games and not have them as something that shows up while you're playing. Only being accessible from storefronts and invisible otherwise is the much lesser of the evils. Shit like Dead Space 3 and games where it's right in your face in the game is just insulting shit.

I really don't mind the credit buying in GT6. It's essentially no different than a lot of F2P games, except it comes tacked onto a fairly decent game which I'd argue is worth 50 bucks.

The cash to in-game conversion is so bad, and the in-game revenue stream, by comparison, is so good. They are really only going to get money from extremely rich/stupid people, which I have no problem with as a well off retard. I wouldn't purchase anything in GT6, even though I've spent 400 bucks on Puzzle and Dragons. The better you are at the game, the less you need to spend, if you play well enough, you don't need to spend anything.

Forza, on the other hand, is only offering cars to people that purchase the DLC packs. No matter how well you race, you'll never be "as good" as someone who spent more money... and that's where I draw the line. Shit's retarded.

GT6 doesn't make me outraged at all, If the game rewards me with a car for completing a race series which is worth 5 million... they've essentially paid me money for playing their game.

And I also blame F2P and MMOs, but not the Blizzard Cash shop... I blame the chinese farmers that turned game time into a commodity.

Bullshit. The DLC only car packs doesn't make someone better, just different. Besides that every car in the LeFerrari pack for instance is also available in game via in-game credits.

Since you can upgrade every car in Forza to different classes it's not like buying a car is an instant win. It just gives people more variety. They've also been doing that since Forza 2.

I signed in just now and my Drivatar had made something like 35k credits. I was gifted two cars. I was gifted over 3 million credits as part of the Forza rewards program (which is enough to buy any car in the game except the E21 which I got free due to my VIP membership).

So it's silly to say Forza requires you to RMT in order to play the game.

You've always been able to. Every car in the game is available via in game credits earned by racing.

If the game has micro transactions, it should be free. Its simple. If I pay $60 for a premium game, I dont want to see anything resembling micro transactions or anything of the sort. These fucking people think they can bend us over and fuck us twice. And even the reach around they charge a dollar per stroke.
I completely agree. Sucks

Problem is, people buy it. I wonder how much Ubisoft made selling fast track resources to upgrade your ship faster without having to farm them.

Except they inflated the in game credit price by about 8000% so people look at how daunting it is to even get that much in game racing, they say fuck it, and just buy it if they want.

What you just said there is pretty fucking misleading. Yeah it's available with in game credits. Yes for most it will be like camping Pegasus in Vanilla EQ as well.

If gt5 was any indication, then alot of the dlc cars will be free. The car that people are saying cost 100+ dollars, the Jaguar XJ13, costs 20m in game. That amount of credits can be made in under a day in the right circumstances.

Regarding Forza, are the dlc cars still required to be purchased twice before you actually have the car in your garage?

You mean besides the Car Packs and $50 Season Pass DLC.
No. There are only 5 cars that are exclusive and they come with the VIP membership.

Every other car, even in the car packs is available in game for credits. All the Season pass is, anyway, is all of the DLC car packs for one discounted price.

No, implying that the cars aren't available via playing the game is misleading - in fact it's a blatant lie. Now you're saying the cars are too hard to get? Boo fucking hoo. Too hard? On this forum. Play the fucking game and quit whining. Jesus christ.

Turn 10 has already lowered prices, increased credits rewarded and implemented the reward program after that article was written. That article is also misleading because it says you can't drive any car in free play - except you can you can rent them for in-game credits.

yes, once with actual money, and then to even access the DLC cars you have to buy them with in game credits
No, lol. If you buy the DLC you get the cars. If you don't buy the DLC you have to buy the cars via in-game credits. Kind of like how I have the LeFerrari without buying the LeFerrari car pack.
