Exactly. If Chase gets some actual playing time, I think he could be a good pro QB.
I think given the chance, Daniel could be as good of a starter as Alex Smith. Not a world-beater by any means, but a good, middle-of-the-pack NFL QB, outside the top 10, but also above the bottom 10.

That's crazy talk. He's only 30, and still playing at a really high level.

It would not surprise me in the least if the Bears were actually interested in Kaeperbro, considering the one thing he knows how to do is win against the Packers. Beating the Packers twice a year is a good way to keep your job in Chicago, just ask Lovie Smith. He certainly could not be any more soul crushing than Cutler to watch, either.

On the Packers front, if they really are giving up on Bulaga, then this is Brett Favre all over again. Hall of Fame caliber QB keeps shitty coach gainfully employed while we let the line slowly dwindle to nothing. Cobb is good, but one thing GB has proven for decades is that we can make any wideout seem really amazing thanks to our QB situation, Nelson and Driver not withstanding.

RE:49ers- Rats over the side. Their fans have been saying that the front office was going to stop giving a shit once the new stadium was done and that is exactly what we are seeing. Why would someone who doesn't need the money stick around for that bullshit?

What a depressing day. I knew it was going to be a rough offseason, but this really sucks.

Smith is a worse loss than Willis, although less unexpected. As good as Willis is, the 49ers drafted some great rookie linebackers last year. If Bowman makes it back to full strength (big if at this point) the dropoff shouldn't be too bad at linebacker but guys like Justin Smith are very few and far between.

I wonder if someone is actually going to trade for Cutler and his fucked up contract.

Maybe, but he is the leader of that defense. And while Borland is good, he isn't nearly as good in pass coverage. Plus that really takes a chunk out of any depth they had at the position.

Sure, it isn't the end of the world, but I really was looking forward to Willis and Bowman playing together again. Really one of the best linebacker duo's ever.

Great player. He's going to make some exciting sacks and tackles for you. Sky is the limit for him if you can surround him with other strong pieces.

However, he's the latest in a long line of Baltimore pass rush specialist system guys who have thrived here and earned a bigger contract in FA than we felt he is worth. I wish him all the best, but we drafted him with a comp fifth rounder and we are likely to get a comp third or fourth out of him from this, so score for us! That's just how Ozzie manages the team and we are used to it.

The potential worry for you, as with every time this happens, is how well he can translate to being more of an every down guy and what happens when teams aren't forced to contain him, Suggs, Dumervil AND Ngata and can just focus on taking McPhee's impact out of the play. So it just boils down to how good of a unit you are going to have around him as well. Individually he's great, works hard, plays tough, versatile fast and strong. He's a beast. Good luck.

speaking of the ravens, that's a team that could use a nice CB like Revis. they'd be so serious of a contender with him

The Willis news is pretty shocking. Retiring so early probably keeps him out of the HoF, even though he seemed like a lock. Willis and Gore were the only bright spots on otherwise horrible 49er teams, so it really feels like the end of an era (albeit a horrible one) in a sense..

I agree that Smith is going to be the bigger hit, but Dockett should be able to fill that role relatively well. I think Borland has a ton of potential and Willis started aging rapidly (he kept getting nagging injuries, so I knew he only had a few "good" years left), but there's no way he's at Willis' level yet.

This is shaping up to be a long year. I think Iupati, Crabtree, and Johnson are the next to go.

We need an entire secondary and/or for some of who we have to play better/stay healthy. If Revis is a hot market price we won't be getting him though. We always wait out at least the first week and this year our cap is tighter than usual as well.

I hope, the patriots either get a new contract with revis or just bite the bullet and take the option for next year and deal with it. him browner and mccourtey are the reason why the pats Defense was so good (butler was a rookie but he played great towards the end of the year and could be an up and coming player) down the stretch - especially in the 2nd half of games- think about this, last what 6 games the pats didn't give up a TD in the 4th quarter i think it was and only like 2 in the 2nd half (and a few fieldgoals) as well...

This whole free agency and retirement clusterfuck is actually making me glad to be a Bucs fan.

I can't believe I just said that.
