Fuck Brady. The worst thing he could do is vehemently deny the findings.

Had he come out contritely and said he did deflate the balls, and he's sorry. But he feels a lot of QBs play with psi (they do), and that what he did violated the letter of the law not the spirit. Refs handle those balls more than anyone else during the game and they never say shit, and they damn well know... But at least just say..."I'm wrong, sorry. I'll take the punishment."

He would have enraged every hater, and reinforced every fan of his for life. Now only women and gay people will keep defending him.

The big issue is the public perception of Brady was already that he is egotistical and arrogant and all of his press after the report completely vindicated that assessment. He came off as extremely unlikable in everything I heard.

In some ways he's right, they sort of did target him specifically and kind of went out of their way to pin this on him as much as they could.

All of which could have probably been avoided if he hadn't been an egotistical asshole yelling the NFL's equivalent of, "I did not have sexual relations with that woman."

Or if he had just showed those texts which would have completely vindicated him.

Because the first thing I would do if accused of a crime I didn't commit would be to hide all evidence of my innocence.

So basically, the same song and double down dance Bellicheat used when he got nailed for spygate? Yeah, Colts asking the NFL in advance to check the balls and then getting busted is not collusion. Its called "We know you have been pulling this shit all year, so now we are going to be ready to catch you in the act.". Jesus, I had some respect for Brady as a person prior to this, but now I think he is just as corrupt as the rest of that organization. If he had just owned up to it and not tried to cockblock the investigation, this would already be yesterdays news. He is actually making the situation worse for himself. No way his suspension gets reduced and he might even get a fine for bad mouthing the league tacked on at this point. Dude just needs to lay low and be happy that he got away with ring number four.
Your QB admitted to liking doctored balls as well. Guess you have no respect for him either. Lulz

I feel like this is the whole "I was targeted because I was black" argument. He was targeted because he had priors and sure enough, yup, he had an ounce of blow and a gun in his pocket. I don't think the cops put it there.

You're right. It's actually pretty fucked up. It's actual nothing like the analogy I used, but, where's the fun in that? But it stirs the pot a lot more and that's what counts, sir.

Easy...he admitted it though. All that matters.
This, pretty much. Brady got busted for it and was likely being watched because of all the other envelop pushing shit the Pats have done over the years. Without that prior history and without Brady cockblocking the investigation, he eats the 25K fine the league rules mandate. What he (and his team) got railed for was the cover-up and prior history. Rogers also did not actually get busted for it, yet owned up to doing it (in reverse, he prefers the balls over inflated), which is also a big difference from getting caught doing it in a playoff game and then proceeding to stonewall the investigation.

Again, its never the crime that gets you, its always the cover up.

There's a difference between liking footballs out of spec and actually doctoring the footballs once they've already been inspected.

What Rodgers would do is more like when a player gets tackled and when he's on the ground reaches the ball out as far as he can hoping the refs spot him a yard ahead.

So if the Brady suspension stands at 4 games the Patriots are going to save $1.8 million in salary meaning they will come out $800k ahead after they pay their fine.
I don't think that's how that works is it? I thought the salary was paid to the league as a fine and went to a charity. I can't remember where I heard that though. I know the team don't get it back on the salary cap though.

Your right, we wouldn't want to conflate a minor offense with a major one. A slightly deflated ball being a major offense and a ball with stickum and a refusal to hand over evidence being a minor one.

I don't care which team you are a fan of or how much you hate the Patriots, you can't justify the above in light of how this is being handled.
Had to do with the priors. How many NFL teams have lost draft picks for cheating?

Curious question. I read most of the report, and this stands out.

During its analysis of the halftime data, Exponent also identified an apparent difference in the magnitude of the reduction in average air pressure between the Patriots and Colts game balls when measured at halftime. When compared to the reported pre-game pressures of 12.5 psi and 13.0 psi, respectively, the average pressure drop of the Patriots game balls exceeded the average pressure drop of the Colts balls by 0.45 to 1.02 psi, depending on various assumptions regarding the gauges used. According to both Exponent and Dr. Marlow, the difference in the average pressure drops between the Patriots and Colts footballs is statistically significant.68 This conclusion was consistent regardless of the assumptions made as to which of the two gauges was used to measure the game balls prior to the game and at halftime. In all scenarios considered, Exponent determined that the additional reduction in air pressure exhibited by the Patriots game balls was unlikely to have occurred by chance. In fact, when the halftime measurements are attributed to the gauges most likely to have generated those measurements, there is only a 0.4% likelihood?a fraction of one percent?that the difference in average pressure drops between the teams occurred by chance.69

I thought there was no recorded pressure of either teams footballs before the game?

If there was...why was that not included in the report? Since I don't see it, can I assume there was no recording? Or did I miss it?

If there was no recording of the pressures, are we just taking the refs word about the numbers? What if the Colts footballs were pumped to max specs and the Pats min specs? Wouldn't that account for the differences in PSI once the recordings were done at half time?

It's gunna be sweet when the pats go 5-11 next year and have the highest turnover rate in the league because they have to play with legal balls. Brady better spend the rest of the offseason learning to throw watermelons. Quick, someone shoop me up a pick of brady throwing a watermelon.
