Yeah, it had potential to be a decent chicken (everyone loves chicken), but there's just too much "Because Japan" in it that ruins the experience + an embarassing lack of content given its development time (and tards are acting like it's some brand new, fresh mmo, which it's not).
I would say FFXIV has an amazing amount of content given it's development time. I mean that shit was rebuilt in like a year or someshit.

Comedy gold in here. Oh, Ut, you can stop asking, I'm not gonna break the NDA for you.
I wasn't asking you to. I was simply reminding everyone that you are in beta. So you, while in the beta, should have said something like this: "I cannot break NDA, but you are all wrong on this one". Instead, you just blurted something out about which side will be more the bullshit artist. Hence, admitting to the fact that the positive spin is bullshit as well.

Correct?

Nahh not really, Draegan. The overworld is quite small, and while there is tons of dungeons, Like 10 or so? Most of them existed in the original game I would assume.

^^ Yeah I would agree. Never played the original though. Didn't they also start work on it long before they shut down FF14 originally?

For me the difference is the way the two feel. In no way is FF XIV revolutionary or any such thing.

I started ARR around beta two and just dabbled here and there in the betas.

I can say it just felt more like a PC mmo even in early beta , but for some reason ESO just doesn't , and it might just be a personal thing and a great game for some , it just doesn't feel right to me for a pc mmo.

But who knows , they might be the one company that pulls off that "miracle patch".

Not much faith in that though.

Considering the state of the original game, I give FFXIV:Rebirth a pass. That was the ultimate polishing of a turd I've ever seen. They deserve praise for it I guess.

If I listened to all the haters I would never had fun in 1/2 the games I tried and liked, at least for a while. SWTOR I enjoyed for a few months, TSW was good for a few months, shit even WAR, RIFT and Conan I had fun with for a few months each. They were all memorable to me in one way or another. I no longer see mmos as these life changing events that I need to devote years to. I think those times are over. I treat these things as games now and if you do this, every one of them has redeeming qualities. Even if they end up sucking in the end, its awesome to be a part of the community in these games starting out. Thats where I derive my pleasure from. And BTW this fits nicely with my current lifestyle, being a family man and all.
Agreed. I had a shitload of fun in TOR for a few months playing Huttball and leveling alts. GW2 was incredibly fun in wvw with the Professionals. Some of my best memories in MMOs actually come from the shittastic WAR because of having fun with oldschool Sullon Zek members.

TESO might only be fun for a few months, but that will be enough for me. I don't need a game that I will play solidly for years.

I would have said you were right until logistics/server issues completely hampered the experience for everyone and they had to literally stop selling it digitally for weeks (Did it even start up again?) Their good will they bought was completely destroyed with their horrible customer service and less than abnormally slow replies to any of their customers to address the many issues surrounding it from a technical perspective. And that's the second time they messed it up too. That NA/EU pre-order game key account that registered somehow magically to another country was fucking ridiculous. I never did get that account back either from early access.

They existed as the same name but the graphics engine, layouts, and bosses were all reworked. Outside of names/lore/class roles, FFXIV is totally redone - it's a new game. They did it all in less than 3 years, too.

None of that has anything to do with the game or the job Yoshida did turning it around.

If your grand relaunch of a flop product shits the bed so bad you have to stop selling copies, I'd say it directly relates to the state of the game and turning it around. It sounds like a lot of things got better, but there were severe issues that made the absurd task of relaunching an MMO even more absurd.

It's good to see that things have gotten better. It's bad that a second round of apologies had to be made.

But it wasn't anything to do with the GAME itself that caused them to stop selling it (outside of the fact that everyone was liking it enough to tell others to buy it, thus causing the network issues and server overloading). It was almost all decisions they made about their expected server load and other networking issues - and then expectations being blown away sales wise and having to shut down digital orders until they could increase server hardware and change up how their instancing servers were configured. Which is almost all due to S-E being near bankrupt and shortchanging the resources available to the producers of FFXIV.

And they are still shortchanging the game with their instance servers. A full group has to wait upwads of 1-2 hours to get into a end game dungeon. So yes, they solved the log in issues and all that, but there still remains problems. Also technical problems with latency and boss mechanics are still plaguing this game with absolutely no response from the devs.

But this is the TESO thread so enough derail with FFXIV.

What?

If I cannot log into the game or the company has to halt sales of the game, or I cannot even access an early access account because they fucked up the keys, or I am downloading a macro to help me get passed the log in screen, or customer service does absolutely nothing to help resolve the issues; it doesn't matter how good the game is. Also, I am not too sure I agree with how well they turned it around anyway. Was it fun? Sure. It wasn't anything different than that it should have been based on previous launch though. And what could have been difficult to bring back some DIKU Mud balance, got nerfed.

However, the game cost $24 bucks on sale so I wasn't that upset. Had it been $59.99, I probably would have.

Either way, it doesn't really matter when they kill the goodwill they bought the second time around when the first time around shouldn't have ever happened in the first place.

Glad to see we are all customers.

Sorry to continue on the derail , but I have to say I agree with the shit handling of not having normal queues ready instead of 1017 , no right click ignore still on the table for all the gold spammer and so on , but after the shit state of affairs of mmo's the past few years , it seems I'm forced to choose a bland on rails game that can't have a day/night cycle (SWTOR) but does let me login at launch , or a fairly fun , old schoolish fantasy mmo who's infrastructure guys need to be taken out back and beaten.

I guess currently I'll take the fun game with infrastructure problems , over the ones that choose the safer "we cant figure out how to have a day/night cycle".

Sad statement of the overall genre atm that I can't have both.

We already have some nice NDA-breaking reviews there, regarding level 50 Cyrodiil Stress Test. With this and all the gathered info on this thread we already have some nice facts :

- Graphics are shit
- Graphics are stunning
- Gameplay is dull
- Gameplay is Skyrim-awesome
- Game looks promising
- Game looks horrible
- Cyrodiil is not instanced / static
- Cyrodiil is instanced / not static
- Khajit porn
- No, just no
- The map is huuuuuge
- Who care about the map size anyway
- PvP is DAoC-awesome
- PvP is DAoC-crappy
- Call of Duty
- NOT Call of Duty (no hallway sniping)
- MMO vets know better
- MMO vets are filthy casuals
- MMO for consoles
- LOL MMO FOR CONSOLES
- I've played Everquest and
- I hope you can hide helmets
- Itemization is casual
- Itemization is too much casual !
- RvR is just endgame
- RvR IS endgame
- This thread is filled with Zenimax people throat forcing ESO because 100 more box sales matter
- This thread is filled with people playing beta and giving accurate reviews based on their own word
- Utnayan is The Devil, El Diablo, knows too much therefore probably a reverse psychology shill
- Blackwulf is Matt Firor, Paul Sage, Rich Vogel, James Ohlen and probably Mark Jacobs too
- Lord Blanco is Blackwulf
- Dahkoht is NOT Blackwulf
- Blackwulf is probably Blackwulf
- Draegan tracks IPs from Zenimax Studios
- People are upset because they can't see IPs.
- They're listening
- Who are they
- Suspicion, suspicion everywhere
- My face when Matt Firor cares so much about FoH / rerolled community he plotted a major heist where everyone is watching each other, too concerned calling anyone a shill while preordering Elder Scrolls Online because being on the Titanic is still better than sitting around on the iceberg.
