Is it nitpicking that they used a regular glass at the bar on Ceres?

Really confusing that they're borrowing plot points from Book 8. Are they really going to try to wrap up Laconia and the ring gates this season?

Filip's buddy seemed to imply the Free Navy took Medina from Duarte's Martians. Not a huge plot point, but why change that?

Gender swapping Rosenfeld and Sanjrani seems pointless.

Naomi's hostility towards Peaches is uncharacteristic.

Offscreen, one-line death for Dawes sucks. I know they weren't going to get Jared Harris back, but I was really hoping they'd do that one chapter where he's playing kingmaker.

Was Avasarala hinting at the Consolidated Fleet action that happened near the end of Book 6? Getting GoT season 8 vibes if so.

Was there any scene that was nerd porn and not space drama? . . .

The last season was pretty bleh, I think after ep1 of this season I'm checked out.

Going to finish the book, and forget about anything after season 3 or 4.

I couldn't even finish the premiere.

New book was way more engrossing. It even had Alex being Alex in the first couple pages.

I've not watched this new episode yet, but I have a feeling releasing the last novel around the same time as the new season is going to backfire. I mean, it raises interest, but it also juxtaposes arguably the worst story arc of the franchise (Marco Inaros and Naomi's family shenanigans) with the new book which resolves the entire story where in the grand scheme of things everything that happened in those Inaros books didn't really have an impact on the end result. Or rather not one that would deserve having nearly 2 whole books dedicated to it.

But I'm still happy the new season is on, even at its low points it's still a solid sci-fi space series.

Considering how the Inaros arc ended, specifically regarding Filip and the gate entities, I'm not entirely sure that it isn't related to where and how the books end.

They really should have at least released the first 2 episodes at once. Episode 1 had a whole lot of nothing happen. Worrisome considering there's only 5 episodes left. Definitely GoT Season 8 vibes.

Watch, I bet episode 2 is going to also lack much plot, but it will at least have a bunch of buddy buddy stuff, just like GoT S08E02.

Without spoiling it for the people who have yet to read the books, it's safe to say you could remove almost everything that happened in the Inaros arc and still have the same basic story in the final book.

The only things that really happened during his arc are the unification of the Belters against the Inners, and Earth getting rocks to the face, neither of which is really relevant in the last book (especially the latter).

You could go straight from Ilus to Laconia and it wouldn't feel like you missed much of the overall plot at all.

I would disagree. Don't forget that Duarte & friends were basically helping bankroll Marcos' whole thing as a distraction and as a tool to make Laconia a thing.

Right, I'm just saying these small story points aren't worth 2 books or 2 seasons of the show. It could have been explained in a much shorter way and without dragging us through Naomi's family issues.

It's not like everyone predicted Naomi's casting was doomed to screw the show down the line. The actress was unlikable and unrelatable from the very beginning and was only tolerable so long as the character wasn't a load-bearing role in the show.

Once the story moved into places where Naomi's appeal was critical to making the readers/viewers give a shit for a season and half, the casting for the role was bound to make or break the whole franchise. It didn't make it.
