The protomolecule completely upended the apple cart and fucked both Mars and the Belt...meanwhile critically overpopulated Earthers are ideally suited to expand to the ring worlds from a physical standpoint. However their completely socialist structure with fundamental lack of jobs means that they are less mentally suited to the job of being pioneers.

It's a fascinating counterbalance without any easy solution. Right at the dawn of what should be the Golden age of mankind and yet everyone is managing to fuck it up as much as possible.

Don't discount people with jobs on Earth wanting to go to colony worlds as well. Big gold rush + fresh start/opportunity to grow is appealing to everyone that isn't already at the top.

This is basically the problem Mars has. Why waste so much time trying to terraform a dead planet when there are 1,000 new ones out there with built in atmospheres, etc.

Can anybody explain why the fuck they needed to continuously shoot out panels of the ladder? After Amos explained the plan, I was just like..."What?!?! Why?!".

Apparently, Amazon had to digitally edit the scene where the dude splats. Originally, it had a ton more blood.

There is a bottom to them that closes around the ladder if you look properly, security feature to stop someone just opening them normally?

Seems like a poor thing to criticize about this brilliant show when Naomi is still alive.

Yeah, this season is really just bleh as fuck for me.

I didnt even bother to watch the most recent episode when it first released.

Fucking sad, but feels like they have abandoned all the neat shit that made this show great originally, and now its just a fucking space soap.

This season is definitely pretty boring. Amos is the only interesting char, and it aint enough of him being interesting to carry things. All the other stories feel pretty dumb.

This season it is time to hit the fast forward button anytime Naomi or Alex are on the screen.

There is no point in watching either of their storylines.

I'd be happy if this entire season was just the adventures of Amos and Peaches.

Scratch that, just change this show to Amos and Peaches and just delete the other shit characters.

They were shooting out the panels the entire fucking way up dude. Did we not watch the same episode? I get the initial fucking shot, but the rest of it was just a dumb way to have a scene where a dude splats, as is evidenced by the fact that Amazon had to edit the blood. That's why I said I questioned WTF was going on after Amos told everyone the plan to "climb" up. Now, if the panels were shown to be solid on the bottom? Ok, that makes sense. But, they showed as they were climbing up that they were literally just hinged panels. There were no bottoms.

Also, can anybody explain why you'd implement a CORE DUMP feature - a feature that is likely needed while in an extremely high G scenario, as a fucking BUTTON that needs to be physically pressed/touched? I think my phone has had voice recognition since 2010? This ship doesn't have voice commands? Seems pretty fucking important in a scenario where gravity is pinning you to your fucking chair, no?

For as "grounded in science" as this show was, little shit is really starting to bother me about it.

Those scenes were all in the books as well. Like those pictures show, there was an additional mechanism at play they had to account for.

I can't remember the Razorback part totally. I do recall the book version of the Epstein drive invention scene didn't address voice controls, so they added that bit in the show where it was set to Chinese and he disabled it because he couldn't figure out how to fix it to help explain why he only had a button as an option, so that was more on the writers potentially?

So why didn't they stop the elevator from falling then? And if they aren't reinforced, the jacked dude could've easily done the same thing, but from the underneath. Instead, let's expose ourselves to a possibly falling elevator and increase our risk by having to hang off the ladder to shoot the panel above.

EDIT:

We all but have the tech now, in 2020, to say something into a phone in English and have it read/interpreted back in Chinese. You're telling me a ship owned by the daughter of some mega famous scientist wouldn't have that sort of tech in this state of the art, extremely fast ship - essentially, a Ferrari in the world of spaceships. Not to mention, the level of tech we're dealing with here is 300 years into the future.

Just started this today. Seems not too bad. I swear though the Amazon Prime video app is laggy as shit. Probably just try and switch to Plex or something.

Elevator and maint ladders are two completely independent systems, not sure how you thought they could do jack shit about the elevator? Seems like a dumb thing to nitpick about. Ladder panels had an additional locking system. They shot the locking system at two points presumably to break it/significantly weaken it, then needed someone strong to rip the panel open afterwards. I got the impression the panel system was handled by computers/electricity originally, just like the doors to the elevator shaft, thus the need for brute strength. But the dude wasn't Hulk. He had to struggle to get the elevator doors open. His ultra strength didn't give him the ability to rip open solid metal that wasn't already weakened.

As for Razorback part, I suspect it had to do more with visual medium than a book and the need to show the audience things so it makes sense, plus creating tension. I went and re-read the book part where they escape the torpedo. The g-forces are so strong they can barely breathe, let alone talk, as they try to evade the torpedo. Alex's controls are basically on the chair itself where his hand is resting and he is controlling everything from there because he can barely move otherwise. He then pressed a button to dump the core and passes out. You learn this because it is Alex's POV.

The show could have maybe done the same by having the screen popping up and saying "confirm dump core" and he presses his control vs. needing to reach out to press the floating screen. So for that part, drama won out over science.

Could just be me, but I swear it's like it's running at 20FPS and I see stutters constantly. Roku TV smart app, and it's the only app that I ever think this. Not sure.

have you tried setting>system>power>system restart and setting>system>advance system settings>network reset?
those normally fix my issues

I've sometimes found I can't watch Amazon Prime and play PoE at the same time, whatever I'm watching will start to stutter. Whatever player Amazon is using is more resource hungry than Netflix or Youtube. My desktop is 5 years old though, so take that however you may.
