Nevermind, "First Steps" is literally a reference to a baby with superpowers

I'm pretty sure the only reason the first two FF movies from the 2000s had any traction at all is that nerds really wanted to see semi-naked outlines of Jessica Alba. Because they are a super boring superhero group.

You can absolutely feel the 1960s "oooh, so one of them can turn invisible? Amazing! Oooooooooh and one is kind of made of rock? What will they think of next! And one stretches? But people can't stretch! <nobody gives a shit about Johnny Storm>" in just about every recollection of the FF universe. Like someone describing something to an old person who has been locked in a bunker for several decades prior.

If the test screening is right, you basically immediately throw the only semi-interesting character (reed richards, who again isn't that interesting. He's "I can do everything" kid. That's not that interesting, imo) against the only semi-interesting bad guy (Galactus is pretty one note in most things I've seen, but at least he's a real threat vs. just being a throw away power mad person. He's also much more akin to a force of nature than anything decidedly evil, but I highly doubt that comes up at all in the movie.. anyway!) outside of Doom in their universe.

Which basically just makes me go "Yes, but why?" to the whole concept. The Avengers were never as cool as the X-Men, but at least they were different-ish. Guardians of the Galaxy are weird and quirky, which in the right hands makes them very interesting. You basically cannot get more boring than the Fantastic Four, and it sounds like they are doing the least interesting thing with them possible.

MCU still doesn't know what to do post-Endgame.

It just me or does Johnny Storm look weirdly like young Robert Downey Jr? I still remember Young RDJ and he looked just like this guy.

Maybe in their universe Tony wasn't Tony, became the Human Torch instead of Iron Man, then later becomes Doctor Doom? This would also explain Doom fawning over the baby... he's the baby's uncle.

If they did this, I'd be back in with the MCU, cause it's such a crazy idea to pull right under everyone's noses.

Yeah probably not, just an idea that'd probably be more interesting than whatever they're doing.

They seriously kill off Galactus in this movie? Well hell, now they have nowhere else to go after Doctor Doom, so they better make these next couple Avengers movies count (or keep Doom around for a while)

i just don't get the popcorn bucket craze, why collect cheap shitty plastic garbage. i can understand paying a few hundred for a metal statue if you are a massive fan but $30-50 for something made for like $3

First Steps IS a pretty infantile title. However I'm guessing it's either a reference to them being astronauts (the first people to go beyond what we were allowed to do, thus bringing Galactus here) OR it's supposed to be infantile because the society they live in is essentially sheltered and oblivious to any sort of real problems, now their innocence is being shattered. That second one is probably giving the moviemakers way too much credit though.

Galactus being wasted on an origin-type movie is really bizarre, because as someone else said there's nothing to escalate to after that. Unless this is a setup movie and Galactus is going to straight-up obliterate the world of the F4, causing them to end up in our world/time to join up with the MCU against the threat that's following them, or something like that. In which case, if it's a setup movie, why are they doing it before the Dr. Doom movies? Galactus is pretty much the only thing they have left to escalate to after Dr. Doom.

My guess: Galactus wins in this movie, Dr. Doom wins in his first movie, the multiverse gets smashed together, the new Avengers (w/ F4) defeat Doom in the second movie, then the MCU moves to the final phase of dealing with the coming of Galactus. Or they'll just kill Galactus in this movie and then show up to help with Dr. Doom IDK

And yeah, the F4 were never actually that interesting, and the box office for their movies demonstrates that. They were big in the Boomer Times and that's about it. Lot of people will be eager to jump on the bandwagon and pretend they're F4 fans, though, much like what happened with some of the other MCU properties. Tons of Johnny-come-latelies in the Marvel fanbase.
most likely scenario is they buy time.

they make a deal. give him other worlds, and he will return in 6 years.

they then make contact with MCU to find a way to stop Galactus.
maybe its Doom's idea to give up other worlds/mcu to him.

I purchased my IMAX 3D tickets for Thursday, July 24th.

It's a while from now, but I don't care. It's a movie I want to see.

I thought the same thing in Stranger Things. Probably even more so there because he was rocking 80s outfits.
