I guess I must be missing why. If its the gender swapped Silver Surfer I mean okay I guess, but with Galactus there IDK how much the character will matter and they can recast and reuse both anyways since its a different universe.

IDK, it feels popular to hate on Marvel and for good reason but I like the retro future and the main cast (actor politics are whatever to me) and the space stuff and Galactus look cool. Like how do you do comic accurate Galactus really? Making him as big as the Titans you showed in Eternals gives the audience a sense of size and scale they have seen so its not a bad move.
Little touches like Grimm's beard or setting up Franklin Richards shows they atleast put some thought into it.
If it sucks it sucks and I won't go see it but I am not writing it off pre release like I did Ironheart lol.

Nah I dont and I rarely spoil myself. If thats the case I won't be seeing it, but leakers have been wrong in the past, if not thats too bad. The only thing I really defended against the grain here was the first season of Last of Us. But dear god that second season was bad and frustrating.

My good friend who is a critic for a publication in Canada that lets me nabs a seat at some TIFF premiers when Im visiting sent me his review for this this AM. They throw you into the deep end, with no origin story and he said he liked it well enough. The highlight for him was the cast chemistry and the retro style. Galactus' voice and presence is apparently a highlight as well. He also liked that since it was a different universe then mainline MCU they had a lot of creative freedom and were not pigeon holed into making everything work for all the film and you can watch this without seeing any other MCU property. Also I guess the leakers were way off on this one re Franklin and a few other things, though he didnt say how as he knows I hate spoilers.
I'd normally wait for RLM to kinda give it their stamp of approval as I have super hero fatigue but they won't go see this. Dunno. It's either this or Superman.

idk reviews are saying its not actually woke garbage that was fake news, but I don't trust any RT critic or even audience scores they are a direct correlation to the marketing budget.
I will steal this as soon as it releases like all other media and decide after seeing it whether or not I wasted my bandwidth

So, I am sitting in my car from just seeing it. I have thoughts.
The movie benifits from not being pigeonholed into past Marvel stories so they don’t have to worry about continuity.
Galactus is super cool and they did a great job portraying just how big of a deal he is.
This felt more like just some random sci-fi movie than a marvel movie. I’m not sure if that’s good or bad.
People here will hate the showdown with Galactus, but to my knowledge it follows comic lore pretty okay.
those worried about “woke”, there’s not much really, if anything there’s not anymore than you may have seen in the trailers.
For those that hate Shalla-Bal as the surfer, fear not, she’s not in it much longer than you see her in the trailers.
I’ll stop for now, I don’t want to give spoilers. Overall though…probably the best F4 movie but that bar is super low. Pacing was off and the ending was predictable. I’d give it a 78%.
