Actually, The best superhero I have seen on screen this year has been Mr. Terrific
His scenes in Superman were great and his fight was the highlight of that movie

See, you can have actually great new hero's that are black and not just race swapped characters (Captain African America) and they can be popular with fans.
Although Guy Gardner was pretty great too

Yeah kinda sad how bad they made superman look in comparison. I mean yeah he did finally kinda sorta beat his clone but he mostly kept taking L's all movie while those 2 always looked competent.

Apparently a PR firm was hired to start the "Pedro grabs his castmates too much!" thing.

It's extra hilarious because non-boomer retards know he's gay.

Saw that going viral. Pretty funny attempt by his PR team to push him as a straight actor.

This movie is a 4 day old salad. Limp, no crunch. They managed to make everything boring on top of it. Bad guy? Meh. Thilver Thurfer? Meh. Heroes that aren't all that heroic.

AI homemade movies can't arrive fast enough.

Honestly, GotG 3 is the best yardstick for both of them.

Superman is clearly above GotG 3, and may even hit the $370M mark to overtake The Batman as DC's best domestic post-covid performer.

FF... is up or down vs GotG 3 on a daily basis, but is still above where GotG 3 was seven days in ($152.7). Again, I still can't understand it:
GotG 3 had the Gunn name and audience love for the characters after GotG 1/2/Infinity War/Endgame.
FF has the Shakman 'name' and a brand that didn't hit $60M total last time around, and yet is doing better than GotG 3 (so far) and will be Marvel's highest grossing film for 2025 by a mile.

Pacing for a 64% drop this weekend. Superman is going to finish 50-75 million higher. DC wins for once.

Went to see this today. It ranks a solid "meh". Better than any of the MCU stuff since Endgame I've seen (with the exception of the Sony produced No Way Home, which I liked) I'll give it a 6 or 6.5 or so....If I were more of a FF fan it'd probably be a 7-7.5 . The retro 60's vibe worked well and I didn't mind it at all, and I appreciated not needing to deal with interloping C/D listers from the other movies of D+ series being woven in for "continuity".

I put it about neck and neck with Superman, so them making similar box office won't surprise me. Although I see they are already slipping steeper in that regard.

I figured superman would end with higher margins than 50-75, but that's still not a win

DC outspent by 150mil so needs to finish 300mil higher to be "even", which is what they're going to need just to break even at the box office.

it fucking shocks me to even admit this but FF is a far superior film, but Disney (correctly) didn't go balls out on marketing because you can't keep spending half a billion per film on non-stop flops.

Neither film is breaking even, its a question of who loses more money. FF needs ~600mil to break even and Superman needs ~900mil.

I'd say FF loses 200mil and superman loses 300mil.

Yeah, saw it yesterday. It felt like it was missing something to keep it from being amazing...it might have been the casting. It starts slow, but pretty decent story after that. Using the "other" Silver Surfer actually made sense with this script rather than feeling like a change for the sake of change. Moleman scene was cringey and the Reed Richards "speech" was dumb, but it was entertaining overall. Not going to argue with anyone giving it a 6.5...I also wouldn't argue with anyone giving it an 8.5, though. It's probably the best non-Spiderman movie out of the MCU since Endgame, but it just felt like it was missing something.

Saw it tonight. Mostly agree with the majority of others. It could have been a 7-8 with better casting. I think John Krasinski would have been light years better as Mr. Fantastic. Human torch casting was just bad. Granted Chris Evans nailed this role in a previous shitty FF movie.

Sue Storm was decent and the Thing was solid. I thought Galactus was handled well.

The 60's look was enjoyable. Herbie the robot fit the background. Story was OK. I liked how they handled the "who are the FF."

Way too much screen time on the pregnancy.

Figure its a 4.5 or 5 out of 10. They have produced a lot shittier movies since Endgame.

After a healthy $117.6 million debut, “The Fantastic Four” suffered a hefty 66% drop in its sophomore outing with $40 million from 4,125 theaters. Heading into the weekend, box office analysts anticipated a decline of 55% to 60% from its opening. (By comparison, “Superman” dropped by 53% in its second weekend after launching to $125 million earlier in July.) This painful fall is surprising because the Marvel tentpole has the benefit of positive reviews and word-of-mouth, as well as a clear runway in terms of competition.

$40mil is still just an estimate, 66% was the top end of the drop predictions. it has probably has good chance of being adjusted up slightly, but then again, they did over estimate opening weekend by a little bit.

----edit this isn't complete, left off a few-----

I'm honestly surprised it's even close to the Superman reboot.

Superman is DCs tentpole while F4 is Marvels C team. It's way behind Avengers or even GoTG in popularity. It's always been a bad joke in previous outings. And it's not like they hired A listers like they tried to do with Eternals.

yea I wonder if there isn’t a Zack Snyderery / old DCU reason people who are not terminally online might be wary of seeing a DC film.

it is pretty surprising tbh.

Superman (2025) is underperforming previous iterations despite having much higher marketing budgets/better word of mouth. Adjusting for inflation it may not even beat Superman Returns in WW box office. It certainly won't beat Man of Steel, perhaps even ignoring inflation.

Superman (2025): 125mil opening, 316mil domestic 550mil ww. (after 4 weeks, has pretty much run its course, should manage to hit 600 ww)

Man of Steel (2013): 117 opening, 291mil domestic 670mil ww
adjusted for inflation: 161mil opening, 402mil domestic, 925mil ww

Superman Returns (2006): 52.5mil opening, 200mil domestic, 391mil ww
adjusted for inflation: 83mil opening, 318mil domestic, 621mil ww

On the other hand this is the best performing Fantastic Four ever despite Disney fatigue, girl boss fatigue, Pedro Pascal Fatigue. With a different cast they prolly could easily surpassed superman's numbers even while spending 150mil less:

First Steps (2025): 117mil opening, 200mil domestic, 369mil ww. (first 2 weekends only, Probably end around 275mil domestic, 600mil ww)

Fant4stic four (2015): 26mil Opening, 56mil domestic, 168mil ww
adjusted for inflation: 35mil opening, 76mil domestic, 227mil ww

Fantastic Four (2005): 56mil opening, 155mil domestic, 333mil ww
adjusted for inflation: 93mil opening, 257mil domestic, 552mil ww
