There was a burger at Burger King briefly back in the late 90s that I can't remember the name of, but it was 2 whopper sized patties smothered in spicy cheese sauce and it was the best fast food burger of all time.
Sounds like the Extreme Whopper they had - it was the early 2000s.

Buddy of mine worked at Burger King during our highschool years in the late 90s - early 2000s and I haven't eaten there since. Total garbage food.

When the impossible whopper came out I went and got a regular whopper and an impossible whopper and ate them at the same time for science. The biggest thing I took away from it was that the impossible patty was not great, but the real meat one wasn't much better. The sauces and vegetables are doing a lot of work on those things.

I will say, I'd never had a Whopper before, but for some reason had a hankering the other night and ordered one. I don't eat burgers much, but thought it was decent, at least. Definitely tasted like meat, at least.
I don't know what the Whopper is like these days, but that's one of the best sandwiches you can get from any fast food joint. It's been years since I've eaten fast food, but in addition to the Whopper, the burgers that Wendy's had back in the day were on another level altogether. They seem awful now, last time I had Wendy's my stomach didn't feel so great, never went back after years of gorging on spicy chicken sandwiches.

The best is when you get fast food at whatever place during lunch time hours and it's hot and super fresh with an ice cold soft drink. I eat clean now and have been for many years, so this thread is a journey in self loathing.

We've come a long way from the franchises fighting with each other over better quality fries. I remember all the chicken products they eliminated over the years, from the original tenders swapped to oddly shaped things with a different surface area that never cooked right, to the Chick'n Crisp sandwich that mysteriously dropped from the menu one day, to the $1 mini sandwiches that were still a decent size so we could load up multiple of them no-mayo and add whatever toppings we wanted at home.

Now they have bottom tier nuggets and chicken fries both of which have more breading than meat.

Wendy's sadly has gone really downhill. I'd rate them below Burger King now. It's that bad.

burgerking is good b/c they take frozen patties and put em on a conveyor broiler

really difficult to screw up

unlike in n out/5guys/shakeshack that still flip their burgers based on how the 16yr old is feeling that day
