There was a burger at Burger King briefly back in the late 90s that I can't remember the name of, but it was 2 whopper sized patties smothered in spicy cheese sauce and it was the best fast food burger of all time.
Sounds like the Extreme Whopper they had - it was the early 2000s.

Buddy of mine worked at Burger King during our highschool years in the late 90s - early 2000s and I haven't eaten there since. Total garbage food.

When the impossible whopper came out I went and got a regular whopper and an impossible whopper and ate them at the same time for science. The biggest thing I took away from it was that the impossible patty was not great, but the real meat one wasn't much better. The sauces and vegetables are doing a lot of work on those things.

I will say, I'd never had a Whopper before, but for some reason had a hankering the other night and ordered one. I don't eat burgers much, but thought it was decent, at least. Definitely tasted like meat, at least.
I don't know what the Whopper is like these days, but that's one of the best sandwiches you can get from any fast food joint. It's been years since I've eaten fast food, but in addition to the Whopper, the burgers that Wendy's had back in the day were on another level altogether. They seem awful now, last time I had Wendy's my stomach didn't feel so great, never went back after years of gorging on spicy chicken sandwiches.

The best is when you get fast food at whatever place during lunch time hours and it's hot and super fresh with an ice cold soft drink. I eat clean now and have been for many years, so this thread is a journey in self loathing.

We've come a long way from the franchises fighting with each other over better quality fries. I remember all the chicken products they eliminated over the years, from the original tenders swapped to oddly shaped things with a different surface area that never cooked right, to the Chick'n Crisp sandwich that mysteriously dropped from the menu one day, to the $1 mini sandwiches that were still a decent size so we could load up multiple of them no-mayo and add whatever toppings we wanted at home.

Now they have bottom tier nuggets and chicken fries both of which have more breading than meat.

Wendy's sadly has gone really downhill. I'd rate them below Burger King now. It's that bad.

In 'n' Out is fucking amazing, and I won't have you bad mouth them!

Seriously though, I have been soured on every other burger place now. If I can't get to In 'n' Out, I get something else or just don't go.

My son was super-interested in the impossible meat shit, so a while ago we got some impossible ground beef(orwhateverthefuckitis) and I made burgers. They were good. Then I realized home-made buns, home-made mayo, cheese from a local farm, and home-made pickles were good. The "beef" was just bleah. We've never purchased it again, and if I'm going to a fast food place I sure as hell am not going to order that shit.

I hardly get fast food nowadays. Very rarely I'll grab Chick-fil-a since my kids will actually eat it. Otherwise, it's just too expensive and not good enough to justify getting nowadays. Sad because (as my name and avatar suggest) I used to dig it. Anyway, in the last couple weeks I went with my parents to two fast food places because they still enjoy it: Arby's and Burger King.

I won't even comment on the quality of the food. It ranged from terrible (Arby's buffalo chicken sandwich) to fine (Burger King). BUT the people who are working at these places are just abysmal.

Arby's: we did the drive-thru. We pull up to the speaker and hear, "What do you want?". Then silence. So we say our order and more silence. Then we hear "OK. First window." So we drive to the window. The girl puts her hand out to take the credit card. No words spoken. She runs the card, gives it back silently. Then hands us the bag with a "Here." and shuts the window.

Burger King: we go in and there is nobody in sight. Just two kiosks. We order at the kiosk and stand around for 5 - 8 minutes waiting. Literally we see nobody. Then a girl walks up to the counter, plops down the food/drinks, and walks away without saying a word. The food was wrong, so it took a few minutes to actually get someone's attention since nobody was there.

Just atrocious. And these people want to make more money? Go fuck yourselves.

Its about the only burger I get these days. Mainly because the meal is under 10 bucks still, having everything still on the hamburger and still taste good, they always have at least 15 people working that kitchen(given how busy they always are, they have too), no kiosk order that most places do now, and they pay reasonably well for work that teenager off the street can do with a little training. Also always so friendly, even the poor sap stuck taking orders on a tablet for the drive through in the middle of summer of vegas heat. I try to give that poor sap a small tip if I happen to have some cash on hand, because it has got to suck but still out there doing it with a smile and friendly attitude.

I don't love chilis but their $10.99 chicken sandwich 3 for me deal has to be the best deal in fast food right?

Entree (sandwich + fries), drink, unlimited chips and salsa

I normally wouldn't even put it in the fast food category but it's better than actual fast food deals.

Meanwhile in sit down food world I went to BJs and got a smash burger, side salad, mountain of fries and a mini pizooki for 13$. And it was pretty fast too.Tasted better than McDonalds or burger king as well.
