Hopefully doesn't get fired but if you punched someone at work would you just get suspended? Fuck I wouldn't even get suspended just straight up fired

You can be replaced. Within a day, within a week, or within half a year of headhunting.

Try to headhunt a Clarkson replacement.

when the star of the show you are working on takes a swing at you and reporting him will mean you lose your job because production is on hold indefinitely, unless he hulk smashed you and you have permanent damage, take the fucking punch like a man and keep your fucking mouth shut. it would be one thing if this was a co-worker with little to no importance to the continued function of your occupation. clarkson is an older man who doesnt look like he is lifting kettlebells all day, i doubt it hurt any.

Seen several fights at work. Guys blow it off eventually and move on and that includes the owner and upper management. Nobody got fired, nobody got sued. Of course I work in a very non PC world.

Right? I mean obviously this was just Jeremy and this producer, alone, in a dark alley, where not a single member of their massive production team could have possibly seen it.

Yup. That makes sense.

You fucking mongoloid.

Structural steel fabrication and I am the VP of the engineering department and also am currently PM on a billion dollar carbon capture project for a coal powered plant.

Always been that way, pretty non PC and sometimes temper boil over. Not everyday but in 25 years I've seen a number of punches thrown. It settles down and eventually everyone gets back to work.

I almost said manufacturing as well as maintenance, figured it was a primarily male dominated field though.

So I finally watched episode 7 and god damn that red head behind Clarkson during the news segment was fucking hot. Fake hair color but I don't care!

Under UK employment law, there has to be a full and proper investigation before any decision can be made. Hence why Clarkson is suspended whilst the investigation goes on.

The BBC is already under public scrutiny because of the Jimmy Savile scandal. Not investigating this would tarnish their reputation even more. But my all means America, feel free to keep commenting on UK public institutions and employment law from across the pond.

Aye the BBC are under a shitstorm after Savile - definately wouldnt be suprised if Clarkson was scalped..Personally I don't think TG would die a death if Clarkson went, not sure who would be good on there but its a brand at the end of the day and brands evolve even when the main stuff changes.

what i understand, this has more to do with his contract than employment laws. He is not BBC staff so there could be any number of special rules in place.

Basically nobody gives a shit except the people in charge of the BBC who think that everyone gives a shit and/or extreme left wing unsanity.

BBC put out a satire program last year about itself which wasn't funny because it was so unbelivable how much buzzwords/jargon and actually doing nothing everyone did, then people started commenting on how realistic it was...

well, whatever made them change their policy to this they are really hurting themselves by not going along with the last 3 shows of the season. cant they run the shows and investigate at the same time? the segments are already filmed, if they are afraid jeremy is going to bareknuckle the entire studio audience in a fit of rage, have him do his thing from his home as sort of a house arrest and make it a bit out of it. thats how comedies work, you turn a negative into a positive.

All I know is I love British Topgear, it's one of my favorite shows, and it's mostly due to Jeremy Clarkson. There's no other show I can think of that's foreign and has a lot of cultural stuff that as an American, I've never much heard of or necessarily care about (other maybe a Nat Geo doc), that's still be so enjoyable. Sucks.

Part of that is because big Networks think that as an audience we will automatically shun something that is foreign, so instead they remake it and "Americanize" it, and we never get to see the original content and sometimes were never even informed of its existence.

So it's a bunch of wimpy engineering nerds who couldn't hurt a fly, so the punches do no damage anyways?

75% of them spent years in the field as boiler makers or iron workers or at least years in the shop. You don't go to school and get out and be an engineer in our industry. Some of them came from the pipeline industry in the field.

Not a wimpy bunch really. I'm the wimpiest one. You don't have to have an engineering degree to work in the engineering department. I run the engineering department and I have a GED.

It's a lot like most bar fights, one or two real hits then someone stops it. The worst was about 20 years ago I saw a guy in the shop get tired of having to redo a lot of shit due to revisions and he took a torch to a guy as he walked by. Cooler heads prevailed and last I heard they were still working together.

The best designers (which accounts for 90% of the engineering department) are guys who know how it's built in the shop and have done it, know how it will be erected in the field, and know what it's supposed to look like at the end. Then all an engineer does is stamp it to make sure it's safe for the most part in our world. No use for engineers with no practical field or shop experience.
