The purple chick was ugly and brought literally nothing to the table other than a knife.

Was she going to stab droids during the mission?

They were glowing or something right? I assumed they were like vibroblade throwing knives or had some other kind of power other than "stab"

But maybe she was just there to get her brother and talk shit, who knows.

I enjoyed it but goddamn these tracking beacons are nuts. Bounty hunter ones let you find people across the galaxy without probs, and apparently the new Galactic Republic has a device rando guards can turn on and 20 minutes later 3 x-wings will come along and blow up whatever the fuck has the device. Like how is that a good idea in any way, lol

"fuck Jenkins, you just accidently sat on the beacon! We're all dead now in 20 minutes, asshole!"

I give you the handiest literary device to bad writers everywhere:

de·us ex ma·chi·na
/ˌdāəs ˌeks ˈmäkənə,ˌdāəs ˌeks ˈmäakənə/
noun
  1. an unexpected power or event saving a seemingly hopeless situation, especially as a contrived plot device in a play or novel.

Honestly, this episode was entertaining, well-produced, but DUMB. It was the most adolescent of them all. The violence was toned way down from the first couple of episodes. Not sure why-- it was okay to kill scores of people in the first few episodes, but all the "bad guys" in this episode kind of got killed (but then didn't). But that one poor schmo in the control room did get killed.

It is slick, pretty Star Wars porn. It ain't "Justified" or "Firefly" for the poster who is looking for a rekindling of the sci-fi Western. It just seems to be getting dumber. Again-- I like it, but it is pure bubble-gum fantasy without any real depth. The lack of any coherent outside plot hurts it too. Why wouldn't all of the bounty hunters have turned on Mando? I thought he has the biggest bounty on his head of anyone? Or is that little plot device just an inconvenience at this point?

The people from this episode weren't bounty hunters they were just mercs. They didn't know about Mando and the BH guild shit til the droid saw the message on the Razor's Crest. I mean the BH's are still hunting him down. The episode before the rookie BH turned on Mando as soon as he found out and episode 4 opened with a BH trying to kill Mando.

This episode was certainly better, but it definitely had some corniness to it. The writing is still a little, "eh". A step in the right direction for sure though.

The scene with Mando sneaking up while the light strobes in and out was fantastic though. Wish this was a darker, more adult series.

Had to come here and see if anyone else thought Episode 6 felt like low budget writing?

Felt like that for me too. Apart from the episode length which has already been discussed, introducing a bunch of new characters every week is hurting it. Since they have no time to grow them over several episodes, they have to resort to over the top characterization. Like Osha doing that annoying "I'm a crazy knife obsessed ass kicking woman" routine. Or the "we're bad guys so we're always laughing at shit".
They need to hire a solid writer for next season to do a proper season long arc, and flesh the episodes out to an hour. The show is almost there, but it feels a bit hokey. I hope they're just finding themselves a little bit

Also the "don't you press that button!" scene was dumb as shit. Sure, Mando didn't want to kill him, but what was stopping Burr? He's a hardened criminal. he should've just shot the guy instead of "don't you dare!!!"

it's your basic "train robbery" episode with "lets get a team together"

only the entire team is worthless.

they know right away "it's a prision ship staffed by all droids"

ok, wtf is dagger girl useful for? mando should have said "i worked with ugly face bitch, wtf is she gonna doing against droids with daggers? not even vibro blades?"

then theres bill burr who runs point, one of the best imperial sharp shooters... using pistols?

your muscle should be a fucking heavy with a gat

cuz you know droids got lots of armor and shit

no, he uses blasters too!

but, wait you're saying maybe no one likes using rifles? the fucking droid is carrying a rifle, and he's regulated to R2D2 duty, flying the ship and working comms

fat guy made the 4 worst team members imaginable, how incompetent were they? mando had the ship, provided a way to get in, and dispatched all the droids.

yea, b/c bill burrs stupid pistols didn't do shit against the droids, they just reflected off their armor and dagger girl is just snarling at them.

why didn't anyone bring a single fucking blaster rifle? (even fucking mando) the two times he stole a blaster rifle from a droid, he created a crater in one head, and blasterd off the head of the other, and he still threw away the very effective blaster rifles!

also about weapons, mando was able to use the whistling birds effectively in eps2 which were very effective in taking down troopers without line of sight, is somehow plot armored by the heavy

also more plot armor, mandos flamethrower which was hot enough to burn a fucking armored droid to a crisp earlier in the episode, does nothing to the heavy with flame thrower to face.

then mando takes out dagger girl, by just walking to her cuz daggers bounce off armor (she got a lucky throw in between the joint) and mando comically takes out bill burr 1980s flashing light darkness horror movie style, wtf!!!

this is like the most horriblist of scripts

I think most liked the most recent episode. There was a lot to like about it, but the first half or so just felt like Star Wars cosplay, or a fan-made Axanar-style production.

I agree on most points. This ep was just...corny. Ep 5 was dumb, and Ep 4 was really bad. They've gone the corny route for no reason whatsoever.

It's still better Star Wars than anything we've gotten in a long time.

Star Wars is horribly inconsistent when it comes to travel and hyperspace. It's why they had to invent the Interdictor class Star Destroyers for games set in the universe, because there's no reason not to just hyperspace away whenever a fight happens.

Ideally you would have a semi-complex relationship with a very non-linear mapping of locations between real space and hyper space that somewhat limited where you could get to from where. Imagine having to drop out of hyperspace at some location and traverse for awhile in real space to get to another point where you can pop into hyperspace and continue the trip because the distance in real space was a heck of a lot shorter than the distance in hyperspace for that segment. That would at least give some justification for ships wandering around in real space when not just orbiting some planet.

Another 'ok' episode. Action was better but some of the dialogue is really awkward. I still think the short episodes are more harmful than good, it's impossible to flesh out any of these other characters because of it. I wish it was more serious too but I guess you take what you can get these days when it comes to Star Wars.

You guys are all forgetting that this shit is pretty much all kid shows. Some of you are attacking this shit as its meant to be an adult action/drama.

As to the episodes, they could of kept the damn 30 min runtime and just make certain story arcs multi episode. And I agree about not having an overarching story being pretty bad. We might still get something to further the story this season, and then go full bore in S2 like some shows do. Like have 2-3 EPs of the week type shit with a story one thrown in to progress, but Im just not seeing that here.
