As of like 2 weeks ago we are closer now to the year 2050 than to the year 2000

most kids under 20 have no idea really what 9/11 means, just a day "we remember"

now you will REALLY feel old

I really doubt that.

Just watched Superman and the previews had an un-released trailer of Jon Bernthal citing some poetry. Really not good.

I'm telling you now ... this has some serious BOMB vibes. :(

Yeah it could do well but these all-star enseble deals usually bomb.

The casting is not good. I can't see it getting much in word of mouth unless they spend 200m on marketing, feature the right cast in the promotional material, and somehow convince everyone it's not a massive pile of shit.

Raiders of the lost ark is the real, fuuuuuckk.

released 1981, set in 1936. 45 years.
2025-1981. 44 years.
we'll be equidistant to Raiders of the lost ark as it was the period it was set in, next year.

Spielberg was born in 46. so it was set in a time 10 years before spielberg was born. but, a great many other people WERE around for that period.

Yup, I know, watched it all back in the early 80s. The video I posted is just the intro from the show, AI upscaled and remastered by some YouTuber.
I think Nickelodeon showed it back in the day in the early ass block with Spartacus and Lost Cities of Gold.

Everything is "modern".

See Tron. In legacy the only black person in it was dead within 3 minutes of being shown.
Probably the biggest reason I haven't gone to see a film at the theater since 1917. What was that 2000 maybe?

It's a bit more recent than that for "true modern" Everyone has a different start point but around 2012-2013 and then with the political climate of 2015 and MeToo shortly after 2016. Award shows creating requirements for DEI means no company will ever be able to push back on it. There will always have to be some subpar shoehorned in written for modern character to fill a quota. I miss the token quota of the 80's and 90's movies because they cast really good actors, and the writing was suitable. While it was obvious to viewers they casted a token in the 80's and 90's, it wasn't done in a way where people got offended by it. Today it's got more of a social justice edge feeling. I watched Until Dawn piece of shit horror movie and there wasn't a single straight white presenting person in it. The quintessential lead "white guy" had to be swarthy and mixed 20% with something else. Ryan Phillippe wouldn't be able to get a job today.
