You pretty much made my point for me here. Your average liberal or centrist WANTS input from strangers to make a more informed decision. Your garden variety right winger does not want to know about anything outside of their little bubble. The downside is that the left is rarely in loc step the way the right is, when it comes from taking their orders from the top. The upside is modern concepts like womens rights and social media do not suprise or frighten us as much.

If you want to be cured of conservatism, just read CNN comments on a mass shooting article. You won't find a worse pile of fuckheaded trolls and idiots anywhere.

Although, to be fair, it will also cure you of the desire to ever read user comments on anything at all, as well as make you wish you could erase the part of your brain that read them. You may even be tempted to get into your vehicle and drive down a busy sidewalk. Afterwards you'll probably give up on political discussions of any kind and go back to quietly casting your worthless vote for corporate lackey A or corporate lackey B each election.

The trick is realizing how utterly powerless you are.

PS: the shooter was a Dune Coon al-quada moslim related to a terrorist with a similar last name from a completely different country who killed those people because Obummer Hussain and the liberals and this wouldn't happen if librarians were armed with RPGs and the news calls anything that shoots bullets an assault weapon when really his rifle was no more dangerous than a revolutionary war era musket loaded with superballs. <- not fucking hyperbole
