The game seems crazy easy. I'm playing it on 'hard' but Im still mostly wearing the same shit I was wearing on the first planet even though I'm like level 26 now. I have a metric fuckton of materials and never have to bother with using 90% of the stuff I find. All of my 'Flaws' seem to have stacked in a way that I'm a lightning-bolt throwing murderbot that just zap-stuns everything into the grave. I even have like 8 unspent skill points and 5 unspent perks just because I wait until I need a skill for something in particular to raise it.

i'm mostly solo, i took a flaw that didn't allow me to rez my companions but i got more dmg or something, i like having the crazy assassin bitch and the black guy, they both leory themselves at mobs, sometimes i can't see where the baddies are so i use the crazy bitch like a tracer round i just follow her and theres the baddie. she used to only last like 2baddies but now i got a proper sniper rifle w/ sticky bombs and she lasts until like 4 baddies

This worth buying at full price or wait for sale? I know I will one day but I just cannot see paying $70 for a video game.

Hit lvl 30 on planet something on some frosty planet after praetor with 2 flaws I like, need a third not triggering. Uninstalled. Didn't 20-max the skill I wanted bc didn't research max level for once, or lookup flaws and quests etc to min-max, just trying to enjoy the story, and also pickup everything. Doh. Mmm, reroll next vacay. Feck this weak as game so far.

yea i haven't used any online/guides, just playing blind, i actually haven't gone blasty blasty yet, b/c i mean you obviously start out at lvl 1, and i just hit lvl 5 to get psychopath, and i'm almost done w/ all the 1st planet quests (you have to quest in order to get exp, to get levels so you can stand a chance of going blasty blasty)

So I finished the game, last act was not as good as Avowed but overall game was a little better, I really enjoyed it but a little too long to replay when all I want to do is tweet my built a little. I waited too late to trigger Easily Distracted flaw; some checks on the final mission were 18 (Speech and Locksmith in particular), all I had was 15/16. Many more checks were 13, which I easily made. If I were playing through again without upping the difficulty, I don't know how changing my skills would give me a different experience: Medical/Science/Observability were the three that called for checks or offered options to which I couldn't avail myself. If I increased the difficulty, I would want to add guns or Melee and probably Medical. I would want to go still go Engineering/Locksmith, Lots of Speech, Lots of Hack but alternate ways to get many of those things, with Science/Medical, then Observability. So many Dumb conversation options, I didn't take them as often as I wanted that probably needs to be a specialized play through if you have time/patience. While there were tons of options for other traits, Innovative I used constantly because I crafted so much, Lucky came up a lot at first but not some much past first area Paradise Island on Eden. Plenty of opportunities for every other: Brilliant, little less so for Brawny (also can use fairly low engineering instead, a few other things beside opening doors etc.)

I guess I was way more focused on getting the better/best endings in Avowed; this felt a little more detached.

All in all a great game I really enjoyed and will be happy to revisit soon.

Installed again, playing a little of the companion missions. Also I completely missed the z shield gadget, so went back for that one on Eden. Mmm, hope the dlc will do more levels. Also I found out the gun that can level, the one on the ship, you can get instantly, no need for skill. There is a friggen switch that disables power to the right of the crafting station behind the barrels. Raaaaaage.

That gun is terrible at level 1 and level 30, btw. It takes an ungodly amount of xp to actually get it to 30 too, so its only real purpose is to gimp the playthroughs of people who insist on getting every achievement.

Pretty much the best gun in the game is the 'shotgun' revolver you can buy like 5 minutes into the first planet so it doesn't really matter anyway. It's great as-is, and with a suppressor on it it's the only thing that makes sneak builds playable on hard/very hard until you finally get a sidegrade to it much, much later.

One of the tips that helped me out a bunch was to switch to DPS vs damage; its a much better evaluator of guns vs. straight dmg. All of those guns on Eden are meant to be dropped almost as soon as you get to Praetor, leveling gun included. Nothing is even close to mid-game Plasma Pistol, Compact Assault Rifle, or anything that shoots mini rockets.

Much the same. Max lvl. Bored. Downgraded to essential and uninstalled. Not paying full price for this junk. Waiting a year for a version with dlc and at least 50% rebate.

I agree that the game as a whole is mediocre but complaining about getting to max level early is something I can never wrap my head around. Nothing I hate more in RPGs than finally getting maxed out in level/skills/key pieces of equipment and then the game ends a half hour later. I'll take hitting max level at the ~66% mark like they did here anyday. Since the game opens up and you have a bunch of choices on what order to complete the last few planets there's still plenty to do. It's just a shame that the lategame stuff was just pretty boring.

I am in the middle of my 2nd playthrough and still enjoying it. On my previous playthrough, though, hitting Max Level sucks and removes a lot of the incentive from the game. There's no need to stop the player from leveling, IMO, other than continuing the ramifications of player choice and limiting your end game/run-through power.

There is still plenty to do but the carrot/stick that had been driving you forward has been removed. The feedback loop has been broken and at least for me, a big part of the pull goes away.

I really like the game and wanted to make some different choices but find myself mostly doing the same things but knowing the most efficient path to get what I want, starting Easily Distracted much sooner, effectively perfecting my previous run.

the only reason to have max level so early is to "force" you into the playstyle you wanted at the beginning

you want stealth? well all your points can only goto stealth

you want to explore the game and have choices, well you can only put pts into speech and hacking (to get the console stuff)

i hit max level fast i still had 3 full companion questlines to do, niles and murder chick is basically part of the story, and val is like a easy find gimme.

hammer guy is out of the way, and the way you literally stumble upon inze and marisol first quest you'd think you missed em.

but no, i didn't give a fuck after max level and i had 1,000 rockets and just unloaded like a 14year old

Ye, I'd be fine with the limited options if this game had any replay value. So far it's pretty forgetable. I enjoyed the first itteration a lot, shorter, but felt more, mmm, profound. I donno, I'm just pissed I have to do a calculator and know every perk/flaw upfront in this 2nd game before starting. Makes it much less enjoyable I think, despite it being part of the charm. I'm hoping the dlcs fix things. If not, wellll, I didn't pay full price. Going to play some Yakuza instead now.
