Liberty Safe did replace the key panel and all seems to be working fine. So at least they have decent support. Securam panels appear to be cheap trash though maybe I should buy a higher quality one at some point in the future.

I tend to hold onto and use stuff I buy forever. I like buying quality in general and I hold onto things to my own detriment because if it still works why replace it? I had a wireless router I bought in 2008. I used it until 2021 when I had a few more devices and was consuming the tiny bandwidth of the Target special I had purchased. I was absolutely stunned by the advancement in network software and device telemetry just being a native feature.

That said, I am currently replacing a number of things I use daily but are a decade old or even older. Like my garmin vivoactive 2 watch. I had a refurbished Kindle I bought in 2016 and have used every single day up until last week when I took the upgrade discount from Amazon for a new one. The 2025 version is a lot more responsive and great.

On my list.
  1. Kindle -> Paperwhite 2016 replaced with Paperwhite 2025
  2. Vivoactive 2 -> Looking at Instinct 3 because the Vivoactive 6 looks gay and I like actual buttons.
  3. Buying quality glasses for once. I have normally just bought whatever from the nearby optometrist every 2 years for like $200. This time I am going to buy top dollar frames as I wear them every waking hour. (EyeJoy | Voted "Best of the Best" Austin Optometrist)
  4. Replacing my 15 year old Rainbow flip flops with... a new pair of Rainbow flip flops!
    1. Seriously I've tried a lot of flip flops and nothing beats Rainbow.
  5. I have 2 of these hoodies. They claim to be 10 year but my 5 year old one has torn elbows and frayed sleeves. I wear these every single day though.
    1. Going to try American Giant if they get any normal colors in. I like zipper hoodies only and Flint and Tinder has been the best one for me so far.
  6. Bought Danner boots as I like boots that are recraftable. Something easy to take advantage of in Texas because of the cowboy boot culture. Cobblers are actually very easy to find.
    1. Also bought some Double H cowboy style boot to go with my fancy ones I wear to the office or events.

A couple of things I consider must have BIFL would by my trimmer and shaver.

This BaByLiss Pro is incredible. It is heavy as hell and built like a tank but gets my neck and touch up throughout the week perfectly. I had a couple of cheap shavers before getting irritated with skin irritation, lack of charge, etc.

Similarly, for beard touch up my Philips 7000 Muti Groom has been amazing for everything and worked perfectly for 5 years or however long. There's a 9000 version so maybe it is better. Debated just buying the 9k anyways but really no compelling reason when the 7000 works 100% fine.

I still razor shave at the beginning of the week but when traveling for work and if I'm lazy Tuesday - Sunday 30 seconds with the shaver works great.

There's a few more things that I"ve sprung for higher dollar higher quality. Most things I try to figure out the sweet spot between quality and price. Just tired of constantly replacing everything and creating so much trash. We're old enough and capable enough to pay a little more to have something that'll last more than 2 months. Plus I'm a pretty boujie bitch in general.

The future is gay, old man. But seriously, those glasses are pretty neat. I will be getting a pair next time I get my eyes checked for current prescription.
They seem really cool but the thought of having to charge my glasses puts me off.

Seems like an obvious addition to bedtime routine to me. Though if the battery doesn't last a whole day that would suck. Will have to read or watch a few more reviews before I get mine. Need to hit eye doc first anyways to get current reading prescription and check for retinopathy.

Guess it depends on how much it is and if the battery will last until you replace them .

I think it's $600 for the glasses. The ring controller is $250 if you don't want to be touching your head like a tismo all day. I'm a spaz already, so I don't really care about that.

Still waiting for the facial recognition that puts people's names over their heads like a video game since I am completely retarded when it comes to remembering people's names and faces.
