Tan: Again, gonna have to disagree. Willingness to use violence does not make one a "dominant elite".

Then you have a limited understanding of systems of political power, and your stance on the matter is unsurprising.

Also lol at the idea that violence isn't a commodity.

Moon bat lives on another fucking planet.

Still didn't answer my question, Quaid. It's a valid question EVEN IF I accept your definition of "dominant elite" (which I don't).

It is not a valid question. Whether or not a protest 'accomplishes' anything is irrelevant.

Perhaps the purpose of the competition was in fact to invite illegal violent reprisal against the American public, who are well within their rights. Perhaps it was the aim of the group to incite this violence to show the regime exactly what kind of dangers citizens face domestically. Perhaps it was a way to drive up support for more extreme measures to curtail Muslim violence, both abroad and on home soil.

Perfectly valid, and legal, political strategy. Unlike murder.

It's extremely relevant to my main point that "going out of your way to piss people off" only makes things worse. That IS what I've been saying all this time, right? If you're going to try to contradict me by saying "It wasn't just to piss people off, it was a political protest!" while ignoring that said "protest" still only made things worse, then you didn't really contradict me at all, did you?

Made things worse according to who? By my count there are two less theist extremist cretins sharing my air. Sounds like a win to me.

And how many theist extremists were recruited after the failed attack, do you think? Do you honestly not think the extremists are going to use events like this to further their own cause?

I bet the KKK tried to use Rosa Parks as a recruitment tool and I even bet it worked. Doesn't mean it wasn't a successful protest, and certainly didn't invalidate it being a protest at all.

The most iconic image of the last century to depict, in a singular nutshell, why you cannot appease murderous radicals with words and feels and politieness and wouldn't you know it... Lumieoomba has never even heard of it.

Golly I'm shocked.

Funny, I was never suggesting "appeasing murderous radicals".
Weird how you just decide to interpret it that way.

These hyper-specific technical definitions don't work very well when it comes to politics. There's too much variation in the real world and so they break down too easily. They teach you this in most decent PoliSci classes.

This Draw Muhammad event was obviously a political protest.

...and failing.
