Yeah, holy shit, 30-50 up is far and away more than enough for just about any quality you want to send. And that processor is plenty as well. It is entirely on her end, unless you're leaving something out, which I doubt you are. 320p should run flawlessly even over a fucking 3G phone I'd think, let alone 240p. Is there any chance she has roommates that were doing other shit on the internet? Or is using wireless that is set up terribly, or gets interference from the microwave, or some crazy shit like that?

Seriously, 320p might even work over DSL. How does anyone even watch stuff at that resolution anymore?!

The best way to test it is to get someone else to try it on their setup and see what happens. If you don't have anyone, I'll PM you my email address and you can temporarily add me to your Plex and I'll give it a try. Or you can add mine to hers and she can try streaming from mine as well, whatever, but I'm going to bet it won't work from mine either. It HAS to be on her end, I can't even imagine anything that drastically wrong with yours at that resolution.

Yeah, that's exactly right, Plex is downgrading them before even sending, so it doesn't matter what you have downloaded, you should be more than fine. That's also the same router I have, and unless you changed something (I didn't), it should be just fine. Your speed is fine, your processor is fine, your settings are WAY low...it is something on her end. First thought is, she's a chick. Can't fix that though (well, without major surgery), so next thing is speedtest her internet.

You don't have to answer that, but you know we're all thinking it!

If the answer is no, however, you could always just say, "You're right. Enjoy waiting for movies and shows to come out on Netflix!"

Nah, but the main reasons someone goes through this much effort for a chick is if you want to bang her, she's a relative, or a friend of your significant other that she "suggested" you help. I'm sure there are others, but those are the main ones I can think of.

I'm all for VPNs, but that has been going on for years. Amateur Allure was big into it several years ago, and pretty much it boiled down to a bullying scheme. Send someone a letter saying you are going to sue them, and offer them a settlement for a few thousand dollars. Every one that pays is money in your pocket. And many did.

Eventually a few people fought back and the lawyer involved got reamed pretty good (not financially though I believe) by the judge and called out for their scare tactics. I'm not saying that you can't get sued for this sort of thing, because you definitely can, but in particular ones where they list "thousands of claimants" they are just looking to pressure ISPs like Comcast into giving up their subscriber info based on IP addresses so they can send out those letters. There are a ton of examples and articles of it all over the internet.
