T Bone Burnett said her music plays a part in the story this year.

True Detective trailer song title: The Only Thing Worth Fighting For confirms T Bone Burnett | EW.com

She was also the singer in the bar at the end of the episode last night. She gave an interview to ew too where the writers basically said they gave her a third-eye type of role.
T Bone Burnett is a 70 year old man. FYI

He basically put together the entireOh Brother Where Art Thou?soundtrack and has won multiple Grammy's and Academy Awards for songwriting and producing.

Finally got around to watching it again, I enjoyed it more then the S1 premier. Not sure how people are complaining it was too slow, season one premiere was pretty boring to me

Am i the only one who thought it was just something pedestrian like anal or something, and not some crazy murder rape strap on fringe fetish?

If you mean she wanted to fuck him anally, then yeah. Otherwise I don't think it would have been as big a deal. I watched it again, one of the things he says is "I wasn't ready." So, maybe she didn't use lube. I do think it's pretty stupid for the writer to make it a fucking mystery.

Not telling what it was and just saying that it's outside her lover's zone of confort, allows for the viewer to imagine something that is outside their own zone of confort. If you specify what it was, you take the risk that some viewers will think it's mundane and wonder what's up with the lover or that some will think it's over the top and that it's just there for cheap shock value.

Don't taze me, bros, but I'll try to clarify why some people are saying this was slower than season 1, and some people saying it was too fast, ect.

Season 1 was paced very methodically, but right from the start the story was underway and progressing. So the pace was slow, but deliberate, fitting in with the style of the narrative and setting, and still making steady story progress.

Season 2 opener had a lot of shit going on and some felt it was disjointed and skipping around too much, too quickly, trying to establish too many things too fast, thus was a bit frenetic, but the actual story didn't really start until right at the end of the episode, so it felt frenetic from an informational standpoint, but slow from a story progression/building standpoint.

It's like that friend who is hyper as shit and trying to tell a story and keep mention this and oh yeah I forgot that and remember so and so and adding in random details... and at some point you realize they're telling you a lot of things, but meanwhile very slowly telling you what actually happened.

So, yeah, some feel season 2 was rushed and frenetic, but also developed slow as shit. Because information and set-up scenes and action was all fast and furious, but the actual story that we kinda think may be developing was practically a no-show.

Or you just spell it out, give us the straight dope, and we learn more about the character and how she interacts with the world and her lovers. There's a difference between mystery and confusion, between suspense and omission. I thought it was just a cop-out by unsure writing, but then again a lot of people would rather imagine their own shit than accept what's being delivered, which is something we certainly were inundated with in Season 1.

With the dead guy being into weird sex stuff, I'd be surprised if the lady cop's (Antigone) weird sex stuff isn't explained later. IIRC, that was the first we saw her, right? So that was the very first thing we learned about her. And they spent multiple lines of dialogue on it. And then she went and tried to bust a porn operation. Her sex issues are going to come up again.

That was my takeaway as well. It's going to be illuminated later as the characters are fleshed out. Hopefully that will prove more interesting than "Why aren't we as close as we used to be Marty?"

Just watched it, not bad. I would agree with what popsicle said about the difference of season 1 vs season 2. I put season 1 in one of my top 10 favorite shows so I have some HUGE expectations for season 2. On another note, the opening music/song sucked for season 2; maybe it will grow on me. If anything the song with the girl on the guitar should have been the opening music....

Just got around to watching, I enjoyed it. A bit confusing with the sheer number of characters introduced, but nothing a rewatch won't clear up. I do miss the duo dynamic from season 1, but I'm guessing we'll see some partnerships form pretty quickly anyways. Half the characters so far are a bit eye rolling in their development/actions but hopefully that gets fleshed out a bit better. motorcycle cop popped a viagra before boning that chick, right? ED problems? I assume Vinci is a replacement for Ventura County, based on going north from LA?

At the end of this season I'm going to have to rewatch season 1 and appreciate McConnaughay even more for his amazing character and work, don't think any show is ever gonna catch that vibe and performance.

Although the ASS-pen beatdown scene made that episode
