USPS stole my mail. Now what?

The problem is even with a tracking number I would still be fucked. I've returned a lot of stuff through amazon and a lot of it automatically comes with a tracking label with the return. I have had a few where they show it said delivered when the seller never got it. They know how to steal shit and get away with it. The thing is I sent 2 packages at the same time both without tracking, the less expensive one was of course returned in a week while the more expensive one was never seen. Such bullshit.

Edit: ya I know which post office it is.

usps is a pile of shit. in my area i would only get some of my bills all the time and all of my bills some of the time, but i never got all of my bills all of the time. ten years ago i converted 100% to online pay and never looked back. never send or receive anything through them if you can help it. they cant even deliver holiday cards without losing half of em. every year.

You should poop in a box and write "iPhone Return" on it and ship it out. That'll teach them to steal your shit.

No, with a tracking number you could see if the package was actually delivered and then file a claim with USPS and your credit card. You would have tangible proof as to whether the item reached the destination

Without a tracking # you dont even know how far it got before getting lost so you got nothing to go on

Had an acquittance who did something like that. UPS left a $500 monitor from Dell on his door steps while no one was home. He comes home, picks up the package then proceeds to call Dell and tell them how UPS left it on his door step and someone stole it.

Dell sends out a new monitor.
Somebody on foh told the story about ordering some ~$1000 item from Amazon and wanting to return it. 6 weeks later they noticed they never got reimbursed for it so they called Amazon and Amazon said it must be a mistake on their end, here is the money. A couple months later the guy found the item in his closet.

Accidental scamming.

Fuck the USPS. I try to keep as many of my customers from choosing it as possible by just price matching FedEx and UPS down to their shit if it's close. Some days, they just straight up skip picking up at my business when I've given customers estimates on when their shit is going to arrive. Also, their tracking is fucking worthless anyways. Half the stuff that gets sent out here has nothing but half-assed tracking that just never shows it being delivered. And then of course I'm the one that has to deal with the pissed off customers when they want to know where the fuck their package is and I have no damn clue. One of my carriers that comes to pick up fucked up entirely one day and when scanning in my outgoing packages, scanned them all in as being delivered right there. Who the fuck knows if that whole day's worth of shit ever made it.

And the worst offense at all, they raided my care package my parents sent to me for my 18th birthday. They opened all of my candy then put it back, straight up took my drinks and then those mother fuckers ate my goddamn birthday cake and even had the balls to put the frosting smeared tupperware back in the box. Fuck them right up their asses.

I'm not going to defend the postal system one bit, but that sure sounds a lot more like something 18-year old buddies would do than the post office. If you were away at school at the time and living with other students, it seems far more likely that they would do something like that than postal employees that would be more likely to just throw the evidence away. Obviously I don't know the details, but that sure sounds like something I'd be laughing about years later. "Haha, remember that time we all ate Bob's care package and then got him to believe the post office fucked with him?! Ahh, those were the days."

Meh, was at a crazy locked-down boarding school and there were definitely no students handling any of the mail there. But whoever it was, fuck 'em.

the shipping lottery is always fun. I ordered the TNG ultra box set DVD collection ~10 (?) years ago, it was limited edition like 5000 copies and in the shape of a borg cube. Fucking fedex claims they left it on my doorstep, even though I work from home and never heard a knock. Luckily it was amazon and they just refunded me the money, but I was bummed since there was no way to reorder it (sold out on day 1). Some asshole driver is still enjoying my borg cube.

On the other hand ordered an expensive IPS monitor from Dell once, they sent me the wrong monitor size. They fixed it and sent me the right one, I called and asked what to do with the wrong one. Said they'll send a return RMA by mail. Never came, called twice, finally I just said fuck it and kept it as wifes birthday present. I guess sometimes its just easier for companies to write shit off than deal with returns, which makes no sense to me.

So yeah, shipping karma gives and shipping karma takes.

When dealing with the USPS, always, always, always, always, always have someway to track your package. No matter what the cost. Always.

Not that they are guilty of stealing or anything like that, but as mentioned by some above: the sheer volume of mail they receive on a daily basis coupled with the fact that most USPS dock worker employees that I've observed have the work ethic of a fucking McDonald's employee, always have a way to track your package just to cover your own ass.

Hah sure you just forgot a thousand dollar item. I know the guy i posted about is pretty bad, literally does everything he can to fuck over businesses because "they're going to fuck you over".

Whether it's getting a tracking number, or getting the bill-of-sale/title in hand when you buy a used car from a stripper, just don't leave yourself open to this kind of shit. Take the extra step to do things right and to make sure your ass is covered.

I did a smaller version of this once when I ordered a Harmony Remote from Amazon. I got the package and opened it in my car, then later when I got into the house I noticed that it didn't have a battery in the package. I called Amazon, sent the remote back and got a new one and then like 2 years later I was vacuuming under the seat of my car and found a battery for a Harmony Remote.

When I was young (13) I went on Ebay to buy some Playboys. This was before free internet porn, and I liked the high-class look of the ladies in Playboy. I found some dude selling all the Carmen Electra issues (my favorite at the time), so I sent him a message asking if he would sell them to a 13 year old. I can't remember the exact circumstances, but he offered to sell them outside of the auction. He mailed them before I paid him. Received them without paying and went along with my business. It was probably like $15 or something, but I felt like shit.

I wish I could track him down and pay him back.

Listen man I felt bad and it was like 17 years ago. If I had the dudes email address I would paypal him the money right now.

Edit: Worst part. My brother and his friends found my stash (IN THE WOODS) and were afraid my parents would find it so they threw it in the lake.
