Dark Eldar guy sucks, I had Heinrix take him on a Black Ship after I lost interest in his companion quests. Drukhari are cool in theory but a guy who is nuts about torturing everything and betraying you is just not that interesting to keep around. All he wants is to regain control of his Kabal so he can most likely use his authority to rape and pillage more of your realm.

Dark Eldar and Kibellah suffer from the same problem. Both of them are weirdly specced into DOTs and the other characters just straight kill things. The augments nicely fill all of Abelard's major gaps. I found one that makes every hit with any weapon he does spam chain lightning. It's awesome.

I am playing dogmatic but it is quite clear you can turn Heinrix into a rogue inquisitor who embraces the Warp. The only reason I didn't really care about Heretic playthrough is because its quite clearly hardwired to Tzeentch, my least favorite Chaos God. I would have gone full Nurgle though.

Argenta with a bolter setup is the most appealing. I don't like using the Space marine because I don't think he really fits thematically in the retinue of a Rogue Trader. He is an interesting character though and they did well at displaying how incredibly strange Space Marine chapters and cultures are when compared to relatively baseline humans like the Rogue Trader.

I did find the Necrons finally and I am not super familiar with Necron lore. But Trazyn has to be an absolute troll character in 40k. He is literally a minatures collector lol.

They purposely made the space marine near useless. Slowest character in the game. Between his 4 square size, limited movement and all of his available equipment I had him doing nothing or barely anything most of his turns. He CAN shine if you get in melee but easier said then done. Ended up switching him out after completing his story and will never use him again.

They have a lot of Astartes only equipment now. He can only use that stuff and Heavy Weapons. The Necron stuff has you meet some other chapters so he gets more Astartes gear. But you can only really have him with the Chainsword and Bolter, or the double melta. He gets a really good power sword though.

I used an autocannon/bolter setup on the space marine and he was a solid damage dealer, i wouldnt bother trying to use him in melee.

That right there is the issue, his kick and the axe you get doing his story alone makes me want him in melee range. Plus you know...he is a fucking SPACE MARINE!
Just everything was dead, would be dead before he got there, couldn't get there, or just too far away.

His shouting in combat, while fitting, does get old pretty quickly too.

Making him into a worse version of Argenta is just sort of lame.

Phazael Phazael not to spoil it for you or anyone really but if you are playing for the Necron DLC I highly recommend rushing the first planet mission when you can. Once completed Trazyn decides you are interesting and provides you with his commentary on most missions. Which is quite amusing.

Just completed the game for the first (and only) time. I had bought it shortly after Void Shadows and beat Act 1 before putting the game down for a couple of years. Not sure why any I did, but whatever. Ironically it was getting a great deal on WH40k: Gladius DLC that got me back in the 40k mood, so I decided to pick this back up again. I have beaten both Kingmaker and WotR (also both once) and this was just as good. I will concede it was definitely easier for me, maybe that is due to the natural Turn Based vs Real Time w/ Pause + added on TB. It was really great seeing so much great stuff from 40K brought to life in a game like this. They really managed to stuff a whole bunch of different pieces of the lore into this game. Some of which seems way the fuck out of scope for what a Rogue Trader should be able to handle, but it didn't make the game any less enjoyable. Story was enjoyable enough, but it was really just a great adventure overall, and I cannot wait for a year after Dark Heresy launches and they get rid of all of the normal Owlcat jank sorted.

Void Shadows quest line was my favorite part of the game. Handling GSC was one of the more believable enemies you are put up against, and they fucking nailed them. I love how they even recreated this pose during the final quest.

Yrliet was my MVP once I got her, just chain sniping the shit out of people and upping her damage on each kill. Every shot was critting for 1,000 after stacking the bonuses on the larger fights, and every kill gave her another shot. Maybe I have to go reinstall TWWH3 now to continue to satisfy my craving.
