Nothing underlying about it all, it's the whole fucking everything. Show is straight up SJW woke porn.

I especially liked that teacher went out of her way to explain that she got attacked by racists for being a cop in Saigon. Even if it is the 51st state in this universe surely the Vietnamese must especially hate inventors.

Oh wait I guess that is maybe true?

Holy shit, how can they do this? They completely ignore t he source material and critical themes....and make this a generic "WHITE SUPREMACISTS ARE THE BAD GUYS" thing? Thats nothing to do with the comics

It's supposed to be like 40 years after the end of the comic. Still it's definitely a stretch to claim Rorschach was a white supremacist. The closest vein in that direction would've been to call him a "conspiracy theorist" because of who Rorschach mailed his journal to as a dead man's switch at the end of the books.

They took that basic vein and rolled with Rorschach's "legacy" being corrupted by white supremacists I guess... but then the guy who speaks for the Rorschach people at the end is a black dude so I dunno where they're going with that.

Even if the basic structure essentially follows the conflict at the end of the comic, that Rorschach's principles would unravel Veidt's plan to avert nuclear war, they STILL manage to take a good idea and stuff it full of full on SJW wokejuice.

The only promising thing about it is that it's Damon Lindelof and if it's anything like The Leftovers or Lost, it won't matter what the basic structure is because it won't fucking go anywhere.

the first episode doesn't really do that at all and the ending leaves things a bit open ended, really need to see where this goes in episode 2. but don't let that stop ya from doing the same thing SJWs do, judge stuff without actually watching it.

ending
the episode ends with louis gossett jr revealing he's the one who killed/lynched Sheriff Don Johnson, I assume he was an earlier Watchman hero (now played by Regina King?) who was also maybe a cop? He was also the baby in the tulsa riots as he had the note from the opening in his lap. He clearly hates cops and what America has become, and has allied himself (?) with the 7th Calvary group. Why is a black old guy on the same side as nazis? Does he not know he's black? Lets find out in episode 2.

If it's 40 years after the end of the comic why set it up with the Oklahoma Race Riot that happened 60 years before the comic?

Because the kid from that riot is going to be a major character in the show?

I figure Louis Gossett Jr killed him cause he is the son of the old chief during the riots?
This image clarifies as Don Johnson is about to leave and ominous music changes.

Damon Lindelof did this shit in Leftovers all the time. There was a big intro at the very beginning of one of the seasons that had cavemen and "timequakes" and shit-----ended up relating to nothing in particular and was totally all red herring bullshit.

It's prolly just red-herring bullshit with a heaping serving of wokeness.

They made a minor mention about the government telling everyone about "inter-dimensional attacks" all being a rumor or something so I assumed that was their explanation for the squid-rain, as some sort of breach in dimensions that leaked them through.

Lindelof? Pass. I'm sure it will start off as an intruiging world with lots of mystery and foundational questions that will ultimately never be satisfactorily answered. In 3-7 years all you fags that didn't learn your lesson after Lost will be gnashing your teeth at the horrible ending.

It'll be like a mystery. In a box. Then you open the box. Which reveals another box. And so on. Til you get to the last box. The Big Box. You open it, and get raped in your childhood. Again. No thanks.
