Well I have no idea what's going on now other than I'm convinced that 'Will' is Hooded Justice...friends in high places indeed! Was a nice touch that in the American Hero Story (awesome X rating for that with all the disclaimers) showed Hooded Justice as clearly a white dude.

I watched the first episode of this last night and I can only describe it so far as weird and boring.
Show so far is basically SJW porn for angry black people.
It's riddled with RaCiSm nonsense throughout, opening with a 1920's era scene where black people are being mass lynched in the town center by KKK whiteys and the Red Baron dropping bombs out of a WW I era plane.
The only "superhero" is just some normie black mom who talks about finding a babysitter to fight crime and managed to take on a team of white nationalists on her own.

Look at the picture in this article. They just levelled the whole place and took anything of value. Also note they're looking for the mass graves that had to have been used for the amount of people that were killed.
As far as episode 2, slow? You had the flash back to what White Night, the kicking ass in Nixonville, all the stuff with Goesset Jr., Veidt is clearly up to something.
I think if you're a Watchman fan it's hard not to appreciate all the little details so far. The Night Owl's stuff is clearly the basis for what the cops use now. The New Frontiersman is the paper of record. Hooded Justice was awesome. Maybe the story will be shit in the end but I'm entertained.

Episode 1, had me saying 'what the fuck is happening' quite a bit. Episode 2 was better. This show is giving me a Heroes (the first iteration from NBC) vibe. Lots of questions as to what the fuck is happening..hopefully the reveal/story ends up better.
Knowing now that this is based off the events of the comic, rather than the movie is also helpful. Really enjoying the subtle throwbacks on rewatches.

It's never clearly said in the episodes so I think it's a planned reveal as one of the papers said Veidt had finally died. But it's also pretty obvious it is Veidt as he repeats and stresses the last words Dr. Manhattan said to him, only he would know that.

The clones also give it away I think. Remember the comic and movie also had him cloning long extinct animals. With another 30 years to work on that technology it would make sense he could also clone humans.

Meanwhile, total viewing for the first episode is now approaching 5 million viewers, according HBO. According to premium cabler, the premiere marked the strongest debut performance for a series on its digital platforms since the series premiere of “Westworld” in 2016.
