When he picked Lockport he picked a good place to go to. Eye sitting centered on Lockport now. Creeping along at 10mph.

I filled up today at Shell for $2.74999999999999999999999999999999999999
About 75 cents higher than last year but given the month the world had, could have been worse. I am expecting a bubble bump to happen once the water settles.

Price of oil has actually dropped just a tiny bit. Of course you can bet the price of gas will go up. Haven't seen any news on refinery outages but just the amount of people that ship and handle all this shit that are now sitting at what is left of their home right now will have an impact. Refineries and chemical plants don't shut down for hurricanes. Unlike the movies there's not a giant on/off switch or a button on a computer to shut it down. The US Chemical Safety Board has a youtube channel that does some pretty good animations and they had a few on the floods around Houston a while back. All the shit they were going through and accidents trying to move stuff around like semi tractors full of stuff for storage that went wrong when flooded.

Eye at Raceland now. If it keeps moving on it's current track it will be headed up the MS river soon which is not going to be good for chemical plants and refineries on the river or the amount of tugs that are docked at those places to sit out the storm.

Gas was $2.50 in Baton Rouge last I looked.

If it keeps going the way it is will cross the MS river at Lapace/Reserve, LA. Largest port by volume in the US. Also lots of grain elevators for loading and unloading barges of grain that come down the MS river from the midwest and upper midwest. They scare the shit out of me. Did a 300' ladder inside a structure there once with no handholds/tie off locations or cages around it. Limited use evacuation ladder. Umm no thanks. But that's a lot of structure sticking out there for the wind to get a hold of that's not exactly what you would call stable.

That's gonna be the death blow for New Orleans and a ton of people that are there. No power = no pumps = no opening and closing of flood gates to shuffle water around. Sister and family said 30 minutes ago they still have power in a suburb of Baton Rouge the east. Still have power here at I-55/MS line. Mom put her plants out for water today and about an hour ago she said "Might have to water the plants" only 1/4" of rain all day.

8:30 local now. With the rain they are getting it's not going to take long before large portions of the city start to look like Katrina.

The reverse flow is just wrong. But numerous people before this were concerned about the river being that low.

Went to New Orleans in Decemer after Katrina at night. It was just beyond creepy crossing the Bonnet Carre spillway on the interstate looking out across the lake to Metarie and seeing no light at all coming from the city. Spooky.

Guys, this isn't the politics thread. Fuck off with that shit.

This is now the 3rd report here today. Keep it up and consequences will never be the same.

Mother Nature just laughs at us little bugs while she swats us away with her pinky. shit like this should show people how fragile our infrastructure is and that it could all be taken away at a moment's notice. what happened last time? they all get moved to Galveston til FEMA builds them new homes so they could do this all over again 17 years later? is history going to repeat itself?
