They’re edge cases, for sure, but there are studios that absolutely butchered some series to throw on whatever streaming platform. I was laid up just as the first Simpson’s marathon started on FX(X?) and got to watch those butchered episodes live. Woof.

Piracy cures all of those problems, though.

How could you tell? The first simpson's episodes were butchered right off the bat. Sure they were slightly better than what aired on the Ullman show, but that's a really low bar.

It’s pretty obvious when they crop 4:3 episodes to widescreen, plus the small cuts to the early episodes so they could fit more commercials in.

My impression for the first half of the season is they wrote the whole arc but later realized they needed another plot driver for threatening situations.. so they added the zombie and made everyone stupid about it. Wasn't enough occult mystery just high school and stalkers otherwise.

I mean, was the first season actually any good? I barely remember it, but I seem to recall it was a cool setting, but the actual show was like a bad CW teen angst plot with an equally retarded whodunit.

The first season was kind of a quirky well done YA’ish thing. It wasn’t offensively bad or anything but a step above CW, obviously higher production values, etc. Haven’t had time forgive the second season a chance yet. Wife kind of wants to rewatch Season 1 as a refresh. I have a weird thing for Ortega anyway so am not against it.

First season was at its best when it leaned into the weirdness of the Adams family and people not knowing how to interact with Wednesday at all. It sucked when it got YA relationship shit they have to add cause teens actually do like that stuff.

Was well made though

This season is not as good. I am not a fan of the actor playing her brother. He has that " You want to just punch him" quality. The story is not that good in that they dredge up the past season to correlate with it. I wish they would have just let the bad guys go and started something completely new. Her interactions with the students is still fun.

First episode of S2 was rough and I can't put my finger on why. The rest of the first half was pretty good. I didn't watch the cartoons much, but I'm guessing this is closest to that version of the addams family. But with more death. Probably didn't have a lot of grisly murders in the cartoon.

I agree. But at the same time I've always hated pugsly and I can say this is the best version I've seen in all the movies and TV shows of the past.

Gomez, on the other hand is the worst version. I don't hate that fat mexican actor, but damn, that's not gomez.

The grand mother is way off as well. In the original she looks very old but plays like an evil witch. This high society version is mehh. I liked the older witch because of some of the easy going comedy that revolved around her character.

Is that the same grandmother? I thought the one in the original series was gomez's mom. Did a quick google and it looks like Morticia's mom in the OG series was Granny Frump. I don't really recall her. Grandmama was the one who lived with them. I don't see any mention of granny frump being rich before this series.
