Hmm you prefer Jaeger to ITZ Sniper eh?
No gunners? I absolutely love the biotank gunners, shrugging off 6 damage with DR, hilarious.
Oh, i do use gunners a lot. i called it a heavy in my post but yea gunner with the larger machine gun that gives baby squad site. I take one on every mission. they are clunky to use. weirdly, i've learned to like those guys as commanders. when they are forced to move and can't fire , and don't need to reload, i can yell for the jaeger/scout/assault to move forward or fire again.
yes i adore jaeger. they start with in the zone. so even a baby jaeger can push the line forward. I'm not an iron man player, i restart missions a lot if i super goof on the mission so i play more boldly than a lot of players. all the jaeger has to have is guys without cover. so either walk it behind the battle line, and mop up. or use the engineer with six grenades to just remove cover and he can sit further back and pick them apart. i don't have one with squad site yet, i imagine it gets absurd. the jaeger is also completely insane in exalt missions because all the terrain is super breakable, and it's easy to expose large groups and the jaeger can basically kill a soldier every action and empty his whole magazine doing that.
a lot of what i do involves just exposing guys. then the 2 shot gunners, or 2 shot infantry, or infinite shot jaeger mops them up, and i basically view the mission as a puzzle game. i'll start the turn seeing who the gunner can shred (since he can't move), then see who the scout can waste-overwatch at. then engineer destroy some cover, then use the jaeger to clean up as much as i can. then assault boys hoot and hit people with their gun point blank on the fat boys or really dangerous units.
I neglected to mention in my campaign cliff notes that i have been, religiously, using the arc projector in most of my missions when an opportunity presented itself. scout always holds one. the engineer held one too early in the campaign. so i have a plethora of alien weapons to turn into plasma when i get more parts. and i've had basically every council-request-for-prisoners on hand, so that's been nice.
