Right now I work for Windows and specifically the next release, from an OEM partner perspective, in a TPM role, internal at MSFT. A piece of my puzzle is trying to win share for Windows Phone, which is... a battle to say the least. But it's a lot of fun, and a lot of new gadgets come my way to tinker with.

I've specialised in mental health since graduating, but am considering trying to get into a supported grad entry program to ED or ICU. Would you recommend emergency/trauma nursing and masters etc?

33, Application Support at Zappos. I administer JIRA and Confluence, the latter of which we just started rolling out. Also support end users with documentation for the things we do in Drupal with some aspirations to get into doing front end work this next year in addition to start digging into plugin development for JIRA. Seems those two directions couldn't be any different.

At a private residence. Also a student.

What do you do? (Title/keywords)
Certified Nursing Assistant - Basically I assist the elderly with their activities for daily living. I currently only have one client that I work part time for (used to be full time) and going to school to earn my Associates in Nursing. Hoping to go beyond that when I am more financially stable.

What field/industry?
Medical field.

Wages?
$15 an hour

Bonuses/SEP?
Nothing really.

Benefits?
Experience! The elderly man I take care of helped me get a job working for his daughter, a Dermatologist. I was trained in her office to do medical assisting. It was a great experience. I eventually did have to quit (after about a year of part time), so that I could focus on school. I still take care of him once a week and will be going back full time during winter break and then part time during the school semester.

As far as health/dental/vision benefits, nothing unfortunately.

Really depends on your long term goal. Emergency/Trauma is a bit of a special calling, but on a resume makes you HIGHLY desired. If you plan is masters for Nurse Practitioner, then go ER hands down. If you are looking at Nurse Anesthetist, then go ICU. Both will require 2 years prior to application.

If you are looking at management (wasn't my first choice, but just kind of happened), then either is fine. If you have the opportunity to get any Case Management experience, jump all over it. A nurse exec that truly understands the financial aspect of care delivery is extremely rare, and will pave your future. I was lucky enough to get 2 1/2 years directing Case Management under a phenomenal regional director. The result was a resume that recruiters die for.

14 hours of gaming a day to not eat Gluten? I'm in. Though I'm sure gluten free frozen pizzas are expensive and/or taste like ass.

Where do you work?

A large research university in the DC area

What do you do? (Title/keywords)

part-time graduate student, part-time researcher

What field/industry?

public policy/economics/academic research

Wages?

student stipend of about 6k a year

Bonuses/SEP?

none

Benefits?

My tuition is reduced drastically, and basically pays for itself by the end of the semester. I get health insurance too, but turned down some of the other benefits. My boss occasionally gets called onto capitol hill to congressional hearings on things like welfare reform, so I get to edit his speeches, fact-check, etc. and accompany him to congress which is kind of cool.

Kind of at a crossroads of what I want to do when I graduate (scheduled to be this upcoming summer). 2 years ago my dream job was to be a researcher at a think tank. I got the opportunity to intern for one this past summer, and it turned into a part-time job that I currently work at. I hate it. Academic writing is so boring and uncreative. It fits the same personality type that goes into computer science/coding, which is not for me. I now have no idea what I want to do when I graduate, I refuse to work for the government and am no longer interested in research positions. I really don't know what else I'm going to do with a degree in economic policy, and my undergrad degree is in psych so it's not like that's something I can fall back on lol
