The only real life guild member I ever met was the guy who played an erudite wizard named "Zeta" in my guild. He was probably disappointed I didn't drink alcohol, though, because he wasn't keen on getting sushi lol. It must have been 2003, because I remember all the pissed off Red Sox fans after the Yankees eliminated us.

I was always kinda tepid on real life interaction, probably because of all the fucked up RL drama that got posted on Cazic Thule Tavern. I remember going through a rough patch after a girl I had a fling with dumped me when I went off to college and talking to one of the few confirmed women in the guild (Tyrani the monk). She asked if I wanted to talk on the phone, but I thought it would be weird ;P I don't think I ever used a voice chat program until WoW. You didn't really need it in EQ1 (Roger Wilco back then I think), because most fights were basically "ok, LOS his AoE every 45 seconds!". All you needed was the designated stop-watch bitch that would hit the raid chat macro 5-10s before the AoE went off.

As far as meeting EQ players, I attended 3 different Fan Faire's. Minneapolis in June '01, Boston in August '02 & Vegas in March '03.
They were a lot of fun, and I got to know a LOT of people from my guild by going to these.

I was finally 21 in the Vegas one, so I was able to drink. I was a few days shy of it for the Boston one (August 22nd and the show was August 2nd-3rd).
Anyway, I met Brittney, the old FoH Wizard back in Vegas. I also met a player namedKela. I don't remember what server/guild she was in. She was decent looking and we ended up hooking up. She lived in Vegas and took me back to her house one night, but we didn't fuck. Then I found out she fucked Brittney the night before. She was a whore for Wizards. Some of my old guild friends kept up to date on things this Kela chick did in the future. A few years after that Fan Faire, she was almost voted the winner in the Firiona Vie modeling contest hosted by SoE. Turns out that she wasn't able to win due to them digging into her history a bit. Turns out sometime between the Fan Faire and the FV contest, she was in a few porno's.

Somewhere in this post is a NWS image that she sent to me years and years ago, back when video cameras were shitty. Don't click it because it's NWS.

What guild were you in? I remember the name Zeta from the Graffe wizard forum/mIRC channel.
I was in Element of Darkness (us and The Relentless comprised the BFA). And omg Kela...LOL. She was in our guild for awhile during Kunark and Velious primarily if memory serves. There was a huge RL debacle that involved the GL of Element of Darkness and her and alleged "favors" for loot.

The thread of all that on Cazic Thule Tavern was the equivalent of a Screenshots Hall of Fame thread here.

MMOs were fairly esoteric at the time, but I somehow met a lot of people at school who played EQ. We all convened at this card trading business on the weekends and ended up forming an elite guild.

Yeah, I was weak. The only real saving grace is that I was a virgin back then and had no game. Allow me to explain just how little game I had. After took me to her house, while finger popping her she said "I want you in me". I kind of giggled and said "I already am."
Then I realized what she meant and came down with the nervous shits, and couldn't hold them back. I ran into the bathroom and really blew it up. The only thing I really remember about her place is that it stunk of dogs.I don't even recall how I got back to the hotel, but she never once touched my dick (what a tease).

Yeah, I had that much game.

Thread needs more drama, like server names, real life names linked to character names and perhaps where they live in real life too. Otherwise, there is no page 6 here.

Don't get me wrong. I like the 'me too!' exclaiming when reading some posts, but damn it, I need the intrigue, because EQ is some stale bread.

I cannot keep up with nostalgia like this without falling asleep, unless you tell me who turned into a fat ass on welfare years later, or who's stuck paying alimony, or who was some meth-crackie delusional druid irl...

My Eq time was a good time, but what I read on forums about my guild and others after I quit that old game was more fun than playing it right now.

Hopefully there's some one from The Tribunal who can drum up a more detailed story of the guy who hooked up IRL with a female player (in a wheelchair) who ended up robbing him of his PC and a bunch of shit. That was like the peak of The Tribunal drama.

Well, there was always the legendary Mecha-Cazic story and the Air Force parachuting down in Krurk's house to fuck up his life. Both from Veeshan, involving FoH and Celestial Tomb.

I have told it about 2 or 3 different times over the years. Xerxes from Fires of Heaven gave Cazic Thule (revamped version) two weapons. One with innate haste and another with a self proc'ing dispel. Xerxes was a badass Iksar Necro that worshiped Cazic, and one of Furor's FoH crony's. Celestial Tomb shocked that we would even get a shot at Revamped Cazic at the time rolls up on him late one night. He was duel wield and we all were wondering if new loot was added to his pool. The legend has it that Cazic piled the bodies sky high, with most of the Celestial Tomb's zerg leaving 9-10 naked bodies each upon the landscape. Truthfully, that is not far from reality. Celestial Tomb zerg raids were a sight to behold back in the day, sometimes reaching 90+ toons. After completing the wipe from the first attempt, we put the pieces together and decided to give it a second try, understanding that all Debuffs were going to be dispel almost immediately. We put a few more healers on the main tank and went at him again. We got him down to 4%, but never the less wiped hard once again. We rezzed up as best we could and called it a night. It was like 2am by that point. Some people had lost levels, even after rezzing up as many bodies as they could. We were all in shock and awe for what had just happened. The rumors were already swirling the FoH had fucked us, which was a weekly if not daily occurrence during those times. FoH shortly there-after posted a news story on their boards about the ordeal, like some mad scientist gnome, proud of his apocalyptic creation. Verant actually suspended Xerxes a week for the stunt.

Then you have Xanupox (guild leader of CT) who led a Rage-Fire stealing from one of the 10 FoH clerics, all of whom nearly had epics at that point. Shit seriously hit the fan with real life threats going back and forth, culminating with Xanupox threatening to call in his Airforce buddies to pay Krurk a visit. Krurk was the Ogre Warrior who took over leadership of FoH for a bit, when Furor had a mental breakdown and quit EQ. Legend has it that Krurk sand-bagged the roof of his house and waited with rifle in-hand for the airforce to come parachuting down from the heavens. lol!

Veeshan, we know drama.

Fight you were in CT then? Remember a gnome mage named Wedeln? That was my brother. He bounced between CT and COE as I remember it.

We used to troll other guilds on Cazic Thule by equipping Dane with dispel whips.

I've enjoyed this whole thread, but Fight's post reminded me of a few things that always bugged me.

1. People saying "toons" instead of characters. This ain't no god damn cartoon, it's god damn Everquest, and guess what, it's time to slay the dragon. The only slay cartoons are involved with are of the one-horse-open variety.

2. People saying "circle" or "season" or whatever the fuck instead of level (IE Druid of the 29th season IE a level fucking 29 druid)

3. Slightly understandable but still annoying people saying "PST" at the end of some sort of advertisement, like if they didn't an auction war would break out.

And an honorary #4 when people in WoW would say DING when they leveled. Bitch that is OUR word.
