"the next generation is fucked", they say.

I recently attended my daughters middle school graduation, where each student in the class had prepared a little statement about their plans and dreams.

Over half the girls included "start a family".
Over half the boys planned trade school or blue collar careers right out of high school.
At least a third of the boys wore cowboy hats. No traces of either ghetto bullshit or alphabet bullshit, The closest I saw was a single girl with pink streaks in her hair.

The class of 2029. I sat there just smiling. The future will be faker and gayer than ever, but here and there will remain chunks of normalcy, little areas where people grow up and raise a family and live a decent, normal life.

Guessing it was a red state.

Middle school is what, like 13? While that's a good sign that they missed all the "grade schoolers want to be trans" bullshit (mainly because their parents aren't forcing it on them), they've still got another 4 years of real indoctrination, not including if they go to college. But, I'll agree that it is a very good start nonetheless. As Burren said, pretty much comes down to the politics of the area, sadly.

I know we have a bunch of back and forth "the future is fucked" and "the kids are alright", so here's today's anecdote. Just went out to eat today and sat right behind a booth full of teenagers. They were loud, obnoxious, and I barely understood a word they said except for very loud "fuck"s every 2nd or third word, but I'm pretty sure I got the gist of enough that they would align with our politics. Then the waitress came and they all swapped to super polite "yes, ma'am"s. Also, on the way out, the one complete sentence I understood was, "I'm going with him, I'm not ridin in a 6 cylinder!"

Yes! “Curly Sue,” the lovable title character from the 1991 film, was played by Alisan Porter — and she indeed won Season 10 of The Voice in May 2016, coached by Christina Aguilera (en.wikipedia.org). After her powerful blind audition on February 29, 2016, she competed through the live shows and was crowned the champion on May 24, 2016 (en.wikipedia.org).

So, yes — “Curly Sue” did win The Voice! 🎤
