What's the rustle du jour?

In a word, or more accurately three letters and a word : AT&T Uverse

After having it for years, and slowly coming to the realization that it probably wasn't worth the cost (Around $220 a month) we hit an inflection point. A month ago the Uverse box in our living room died. Instead of calling for a replacement, we did a one month trial of "life without Uverse". Between "channels" we get for free on our LG TV for background fodder (Hi2u Mysteries at the Museum and How The Universe Works), my HD Homerun box with an OTA antenna (~90 OTA channels where I'm at in DFW) , HBO Max which we get for "free" with our wireless, and an amazon prime membership the only things we missed were a couple Stars hockey games which were on, I believe, TNT or TBS or somesuch. So I'm rustled at myself for not cancelling sooner.

I call to cancel today, I have to sit on hold for almost an hour, they won't let you cancel on the website. The guy does the obligatory attempt to pitch me another package, I get it, it's his job. Then he admits that the AT&T Uverse we have they don't even offer as a service anymore, and haven't for years, but just kept us as legacy customers of it. That the equivalent new thing would be their new streaming service (which Uverse also effectively was), and would only be $99 a month. Still too high to pay for 2 hockey games a month, but it made me realize we'd been paying over $100 more than if we had just got the new service and nobody at AT&T thought that might be something to upgrade folks to? So that's bonus rustle.

Bottom line pickle tickle lining, our budget is now $200+ a month lighter though so I'm calling that a minor net win.
