Tim Curry had a pretty bad stroke a few years back that left him with pretty bad partial paralysis. That's why he has mostly disappeared from Hollywood. Even voice acting is rough for him now.

Rocky Horror planted a lot of seeds that blossomed into the mustard hole fuckery that we're dealing with today.
However I don't hate on Curry for that. I went to more than one Rocky Horror picture show back in my teenage years and had a blast. Different time. Different perspective.
Curry was awesome on screen. Hope he does well.

I prefer that to be the case over what I drummed up in my head based on personal experience.
There was a handful of goth kids from my youth that I come to find out decades later are now 50 year old men that like to wear dresses. Not really surprised in retrospect, but at the time I was a skater that only hung out with that crowd because the chicks were theater whores. Pretending to like The Cure is one of the most shameful things I ever did to get laid.

Me, too. And even with the hate it gets, I love the first half/three quarters of it. The last quarter was boring and meh. But that first half fucking rocked. (no pun intended).
Also, if a movie sucked... it was never because of Tim Curry. He's always been fascinating to watch. I love the story of Meatloaf seeing Tim in that drag outfit for the first time and storming off set because he didn't realize what he'd gotten himself (or probably his manager) into. But yea, it was a different time... back when we poked fun at the ridiculousness of trannies.
