I used to go shooting with these old codgers, before I became one myself, out in the AZ desert and they would tell me about riding horses to school when they were kids, something I thought would have been cool as I had to walk to my grade school. They grew up hating those animals because every one of them knew a friend that had been injured, crippled, or killed riding back and forth to school.
